Guest newl Guests Posted 24/02/07 01:38 AM Share Posted 24/02/07 01:38 AM I get about 420 km from 60 L of fuel, which equates to 14.3 L/100k's in mainly city driving.I get roughly that as well in my manual, though my drive is shorter than yours and she's usually only just warmed up by the time I pull into work. Fat-Tony Member 5,364 Member For: 18y 8m 23d Posted 10/04/07 05:02 AM Share Posted 10/04/07 05:02 AM (edited) f*ck me swinging, I have never seen a topic with so many posts, but none actually relate to the original question posted, but only skew off into a half tangentOK Laner to answer your original question your car like every other car out there in the world is designed to use more fuel when the engine is cold. This is for emissions. When a catalytic converter is under roughly 700 degrees or so it is quite ineffective at catalysing the NOX and CO2 into gasses which are less harmful to the atmosphere, so to minimise the damage done the atmosphere the ecu in a delibrate act pumps more fuel into the motor which makes the exhaust gas hotter therefore getting your cat converter to the correct operating tempreture. Also seeing as your motor was designed to run properly at the correct operating tempreature its another good reason for it to be brought up to operating temprature quicker. The motor runs like sh*t when its cold, its why old cars have a choke. Your car should feel a little more sluggish when the motor is cold, also you should NOT be giving the car a bootful when the motor is cold either. If I am using 3 litres/100km more fuel than the dull boring untuned version it costs me 450 litres more fuel a year (I average 15000km a year) or about $600 a year in extra fuel consumed for that pleasure. That is a measley $12/week or two schooners/week at a City pub. Happy?.....you betcha! Dingah Edited 10/04/07 10:09 AM by dingah2
