in overall long term aspects whats better, LPG or good ol petrol?

which overall long term aspect? performane or economy?....petrol for fun Lpg for $'s...i know which one i'd rather have and its not Lpg. There isnt a viable system for the T's around yet anyway. If you want a frugal high economy car a 1700kg four door sedan with a 4ltr turbo charged motor probably isnt the best place to start... :spoton:

thanks for the kind words ill certainly take that into consideration! yeah I meant a bot of both...performance and $$$ is LPG sh*t when it comes to performance or does it do the same job?

Lpg can be made to perform..(it actually has a higher calorific value than petrol..ie it contains more power..) but you need lots of it and a specialised set up that isnt around for these cars yet...im sure if some body came up with a economically viable system that would still allow these cars to make big HP it would sell....you gotta wonder if paying 1/3 third the price of petrol for LPG and then uses 4 times as much to make the same power would make it worth it though.... :spoton:

yeah cause I mean everybody always says LPG runs out faster then petrol so I dunno...I would rather pay the extra for power...then again if the price keeps on rising I dunno, what u reckon?

:gooff: Huh? I thought LPG had a lower calorific value (hence why you need 4 times as much of it) but a higher octane rating...Thus dedicated LPG systems can run a much higher compression ratio... ??

Please explain?? :gooff:

NO, it does not. To achieve the same amount of "energy" from LPG you have to use approximately 40% more by volume compared to petrol. There is no reason at all why you can't achieve the same power from LPG as you do from petrol, turbo motor or not. You just have to have the correct compression, valve timing, and ignition timing to allow for the different burn charactistics of LPG.

LPG in Turbo's is actually better than Petrol as the LPG has a cooling effect on the inlet air and higher octane rating. The problem comes with the delivery of LPG in the T when it is under boost. LPG for some reason is not being developed enough for performance applications.

Pity really as Oz could be self sufficuent, as most of the worlds LPG comes from here.

380kms DTE reads. full tank 95RON ULP and I have a K&N filter.

is this super bad?

2nd CAI about to go in. hopefully will see better kms. is this average for you guys?

380!!! Your doing well.

I filled my car up this morning, now I do drive it like it was designed.

My DTE was showing 279kms and it cost me 90.00 dollars to fill the *beep*!

I feel your pain. it cost me 85 bux to fill up a full tank of optimax, most ive ever paid at one time. dont the utes also have a larger tank?

also I heard on the radio today that LPG burns faster, but the cheaper price relative to petrol makes up for the faster consumption
