There isnt a viable system for the T's around yet anyway. If you want a frugal high economy car a 1700kg four door sedan with a 4ltr turbo charged motor probably isnt the best place to start... I thought LPG had a lower calorific value (hence why you need 4 times as much of it) but a higher octane rating...Thus dedicated LPG systems can run a much higher compression ratio... ??Please explain?? To achieve the same amount of "energy" from LPG you have to use approximately 40% more by volume compared to petrol. There is no reason at all why you can't achieve the same power from LPG as you do from petrol, turbo motor or not. You just have to have the correct compression, valve timing, and ignition timing to allow for the different burn charactistics of LPG.
ZAP No boost, no bottle, just my foot on the throttle! Lifetime Members 7,935 Member For: 21y 11d Gender: Male Location: Sydney Posted 02/05/06 12:55 AM Share Posted 02/05/06 12:55 AM LPG in Turbo's is actually better than Petrol as the LPG has a cooling effect on the inlet air and higher octane rating. The problem comes with the delivery of LPG in the T when it is under boost. LPG for some reason is not being developed enough for performance applications.Pity really as Oz could be self sufficuent, as most of the worlds LPG comes from here.
