Dazza,

I suppose your right, but since I dont sit behind the car I can only assume the it is blowing flames. I get 400 around town where a friend gets 550 - same car same driving style.

What I believe is that people are willing to putup with the crap fuel ecconomy and Ford don't give a sh*t. The mate that is the machanic works and builds some very fast cars and knows his sh*t, so if he says it's using fuel then it's using fuel, what happens behind me happens.

I have guys here in Canberra who are getting 350 to a tank and are thinking of selling their cars, I'm the same if I keep getting crap ecconomy the car will be gone.

Been to Ford for them to look at it and they are hopeless, They told me that they remapped the ECU and the ecconomy was the same, the doey look in their eyes says it all - this is the second time the car is going back to Ford to fix factory faults the same ones that they didn't fx the first time. I have had a lot of cars in my life but there is something wrong with the fords as long as people accept it Ford will keep producing CRAP.

Like I said Tuesday will see the car back at Ford, Tuesday night will see the car back to my mates workshop and the results will be posted soon after.

Cheers

Milan

Thanks for all the advise and support guys.

Seems to me like other people are having similar problems.

Problem is, despite what the DTE function is saying.... I reset my KM everytime I fill up and I am getting 250km out of a full tank.

That can't be normal.

Well it may not be normal but it would be expected if you drive like this all the time ...

I've beaten

- Nissan Skyline R33 GTR (in stock form)

- Nissan 200SX (exhaust/aftermarket computer/intercooler etc)

- Nissan 300ZX's / 350Z's

- BWM M3's (even the new 03 models)

- Toyota Supra Turbo and non turbo (moded and stock)

- WRX STi's / Normal WRX's (moded and stock)

- Expensive Daewoo R8's and Monaros

- Ford XR8 BA and AU *me ducks*

- Nissan Skyline R34 GTT and GTR (the GTR was 30cm or so infront not really a win)

and that's not to mention the S4 or AMG that ate you ...

Problem is though, that's all in 6 months time..... 6 out of the 7 days in a week, I don't rev it past 3000, I barely hit it....

Im not one of those fully sik "I wanna race everyone at the lights" type of person. On the weekends I give it a squirt here and there, but that's about it.

Quick to jump to assumptions.

Having said this, Flogging it all week long 2 weeks after I bought it, kept it at 13L p/100km with about 450km out of a tank.

Regards,

George

OK...if Ken ( or Voy ) won't take the time to set you all straight...I will.

When becoming a member of the HgAg Team, there is a leaflet handed out instructing the proper way to drive the car so that maximum fuel useage can be achieved. Perhaps some of you ( or is that ONE of you ), should take note :

1). Release handbrake when driving

This is not a speed limiter, but a functional tool which can also be used to prevent the car moving when in a stationary position.

2). Brake Pedal

Those who drive manuals have probably noticed that there are 3 pedals on the floor, each with it's own function. As you only have 2 feet, try not to press on all 3 at the same time.

Those who drive autos, do not mistake the left hand pedal for a foot rest while driving. Resting your foot on this pedal while accelerating will in actual fact slow down your vehicle and cause a smell from outside the car when used to excess. This phenomenon is often mistakenly reported as "brake shudder".

3). Other road users

Sometimes, other drivers find themselves in the awkward position of having to use an alternate lane on the same stretch of road as you. If this occurs at a set of lights, do not take it personally. They mean no disrespect and if left alone, will go about their business as if you weren't there. There is no need to plant your foot on the accelerator the moment the lights turn green. If this does occur, again, do not take it personally if they pull up next to you at the next set of lights. It just may be possible that they happen to be going in the same direction as you.

These simple 3 steps will make your petrol last longer. :idunno:

Co-incidenatally, I had just done the figures on my fuel consumption this very afternoon, only hours before I discovered this thread.

From approx. 18000 kms to 27000kms I averaged 12.53litres per 100kms. (calculated - not computer)

All but one tankfull on Optimax.

Ranged from a best of 10.14 over 552 km (actual - not by the computer which showed 10.6 for this tank) to a worst of just 17.37 lit/100 km for just 132 kms of town driving.

Not much city or town driving in this lot. Mostly country miles, but it includes many trips to the mountains to go skiing on weekends with a full load of family and their gear. On these trip I still got around 12.5 to 12.8 per 100. One trip I towed a light trailer and it plummetted to 14.something.

On the trips to the hills with only my son as navigator we usually travel a bit more 'sporty' - (read - give it a bit of a thrashing in the windy bits). Worst trip (best fun - in the middle of the night) I still averaged 13.51. (And broke all my personal point to point records). The computer was showing about 16 at the top of the hills though. It always improves a lot on the downhill trip. Funny that. And of course as soon as we reach civilisation (straight and flat) again we have to set the cruze on 100. Zzzzzzz!

I have noticed though it really goes through the juice around town. Especially short trips where it never warms up properly. Really sucks up the juice for the first 5 kays or so when cold.

I could not possibly use 19 litres /100km in mixed driving and keep my licence. Something is definitly not as it should be with that figure.

Hi,

I drove my Turbo for 320 kms today and the trip took 3 1/2 hrs and I did it non stop.

There was hilly stuff, had to pass a few people as well and managed 9.5 litres per 100 km over the whole trip by the time I got home. I zeroed the display before I started off

This is the best figure I have had out of any of my other Falcons.

The car has 17000 km on it and I fuelled it up with Vortex this morning.

I have seen some of you have had poor economy so I reckon its a good result. Averaged 100 kmh all the way.

never bought the Turbo for fuel economy and its the first time I have measured it.

Bloody good result I thought?
