Got an app on my phone to keep track of mine, over the last ten months the best is 8.3l/100km, worst 17.95 and average 12.69 - all based on tank fill-ups and odometer. Massive difference between highway cruising and urban/spirited driving.

Not sure how long the average speed on the FGs is measured over but mine is sitting at 41 km/h and can't recall the last time it was reset.

Fuel Log (Android)...just got the free version but it lets you keep track of service costs etc. as well if you want (which I couldn't be bothered with). Each time you fill up just whack in the odometer reading, litres and cost.

Probably best not to look at the accumulated costs though

Got me a Galaxy S2 coming this week hopefully so will definitely download that app.

I've tried driving at perfect road speeds, not hitting boost at all for a full tank, and can still only seem to get 400/430 MAX out of a tank. I actually got 450 out of my last full tank which I filled up right before the WA cruise, where I gave it a fair bit (but also a lot of 90km/h+ driving)

Yet to get more than 450 from a tank.

Since I have replaced my engine (same tune and injectors etc) My consumption has risen. Now lucky to get 400ks per 3/4 tank(never let it lower) ,was getting closer to 480ks before. Old engine consumpion got to 11.7lt and now sits at 12.2lt. Even my av speed has dropped to 48ks from 52ks.

Looking at the instant economy my T (6 manual) seems to use less fuel at 105kph than at 100kph, could be somthing to do with momentum on hills?

I have found that only letting the engine rev out to 2000rpm (boring) sees the best economy. I tried letting it out to 2500rpm and the difference was close to a loss of 40kms on the first quarter tank and from memory only ended up getting 380ks out of that 3/4 tank.

I got home from Gin Gin to Townsville about an hour and a half ago. just gave her a wash. my average comsumption was 8.8L/100klm. im pretty happy with that to be honest. however that was all cruising and maybe 20-25 overtakes. it cost me $100 to get to Townsville and it was on half when I get back. so technically it was $150 if you count the $50 I threw in once I got home. all BP Ultimate with one top up of V Power at Mackay. ive yet to use much around town so im sure im in for a surprise.

These are real world numbers. normal everyday stuff. Not some easy runs up the freeway to claim super low numbers. Funnily Ford quote 17.2L/100km urban to 8.5L/100km extra rural, combined 11.7L/100km. Cheers playdoh. These are similar to the numbers I get, my usage is around 15L/100km(average speed around 32kph) on tank fill litres used against km done. My driving in pretty much all short stop trips(max distance would be 15km) in 50-70kph zones with the odd couple km on the freeway. I also get the turbo on boost when I get a chance, off the lights/freeway on ramp.

These cars have awesome economy given the power and how quick they are. If I wanted an economical car I would buy a turbo diesel but it wouldn't be nearly as much fun.

Actually, I sold a Turbo Diesel (D4D) Prado and bought myself a Patrol and my missus the XR6T, the XR6T is actually better on the highway that the Prado was. Around town is different ofcourse, but was about as fun as cancer to drive compared to the Falcon.

I bought my XR6T ute 2nd hand and my sister (with her UNtimid right foot) drove it home to me from Adelaide. (Approx 400km) The average was 9.3 to the 100, and fuel usage of 36ltr of fuel...my ute has 65,000ks on it, is an auto and is still stock and sis said she had a ball passing 3 semi's at a time on the way home....Impressed in its economy...yes! ;)
