Hi everyone,

I have been looking at buy an xr6t ute for a while now, and finally saved up enough to start looking,

Problem is I don't know a whole bunch about them. Just wanna ask a few questions about the them and any answers are much appreciated.

Whats the difference between ba and bf, ive seen 05 ba's and 05 bf's

difference between Mk1 and mk2 and are some not Mk at all lol?

Also what are some important things to look for when purchasing a turbo, or is it best to get a mechanic to check it out, I dont want a lemon :(

Also is it best to buy un moded as I dont wanna void the warranty?

as u can see lots of questions as I am nooby

Ive got around 28k to spend so im thinking that should get me an 05 ba/bf?

Thanks Mitch

I'm sure someone else will explain all the fine details but in my opinion if I had 28k I'd be hunting for and immaculate BA MK2 6 Speed Manual with no mods but fully optioned and as low as possible k's.

Whats the difference between ba and bf, ive seen 05 ba's and 05 bf's? The ZF 6speed auto was released in the BF. The BF was released at the end of '05. Most of the changes were cosmetic.

difference between Mk1 and mk2 and are some not Mk at all lol? BAMk1 > BAMk2 was 6 speed manual gearbox. BFMk1 >Mk2 was cosmetic. The BF's generally have better build quality and less problems.

It is always best to have it checked out properly.

Also is it best to buy un moded as I dont wanna void the warranty? If you buy a new enough car to still have factory warranty, then yes, but if you plan to mod it, then you can save a heap of $$'s buy buying a already modded car.

You may be a biit short to buy a low km BF ute as they seem to hold their value better than the sedans

Wait for the full realese of the FG and then BF prices will drop sharply to your price range. Not long to go now.

naa the workhorse of the xr line and the best selling model will be deleted with the fg.

of course there will be a fg ute, turbo, xr8 boss persuit and all the other variants.

which ever way you go make sure you get a 6 speed. The lower Km the better. These turbos dont like long intervals between oil changes. can damage the turbo. Try and find one that's not modded. With high boost my oil is chocolate after 3000.
