It had washes not shims in there when supplied with the long motor, but when the engine was hot I'm guessing that it may have kept a valve or 2 open as it would wind over and not start like it had minimal compression, and be find again once it cooled down. I removed the washes which did seem to make the engine much better hot and cold starting, so now im assuming I should by a shim kit and do them properly. I just assumed the standard roller base circle would still have been like stock, but maybe not. FTR: I had the vernier gears in, as supplied and changed back out to full VCT functionality which is where it is at now Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
