It had washes not shims in there when supplied with the long motor, but when the engine was hot I'm guessing that it may have kept a valve or 2 open as it would wind over and not start like it had minimal compression, and be find again once it cooled down. I removed the washes which did seem to make the engine much better hot and cold starting, so now im assuming I should by a shim kit and do them properly. I just assumed the standard roller base circle would still have been like stock, but maybe not. FTR: I had the vernier gears in, as supplied and changed back out to full VCT functionality which is where it is at now Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/43875-atomic-cams/page/8/#findComment-1639000 Share on other sites
