Ford is too cheap to build two types of suspension for the utes. Especially when FPV utes are a small percentage of the total ute sales.

You're probably correct - still sad though, that we don't have the option.

It would have been very easy to factory-adapt the UTE's rear to accept the sedan's IRS -ok, it's not the strongest setup, but for street-tyres, it would be good enough, and the benefit in handling would outway the sacrifice in strength...

I will most likely study Simon's conversion of a little, and would also look at retrofitting Ford's std sedan IRS - it would save significantly on custom engineering, but probably sacrifice strength.

Ah well, time would tell.

Ermmmm....I did'nt buy the FPV F6 Tornado, with stock 230 odd rwkw to be a workhorse.

Its a good compromise. name another ute on the market you can load

with a tonne of fire wood and still hose of dunny door at the lights :shifty:

It might not handle as well if you dont use it as a ute well why buy it ??????

There's a local carpet layer bloke here and he uses a Super Pursuit every day for his work ute. Just chucks his tools and crap loose in the back!! Awesome work car though.

@ Phatal: As I mentioned earlier, 99% of blokes that considers purchasing of a FPV UTE will do so for recreational driving - you will get those that will use it for a workhorse, but they are in the minority.

Most, like myself wants to boot it every so often, while staying within speed-limits of course, unless you're on a dragstrip or racetrack.

Of course everyone is entitled to their opinions, and for me, the UTE's handling doesn't do it, at least as a sportcar.

In most other departments it is on par, or ahead of the competition, especially wrt cheap, easy power, and then of course, the transmission.

So yeah, it will get chopped and refitted with an R34 Skyline IRS, when, I dunno, hopefully within the next year to 18 months it shoulde be complete.
