bondy Member 86 Member For: 17y 7m 25d Gender: Male Location: townsville Posted 19/03/08 12:29 AM Share Posted 19/03/08 12:29 AM gday all, im a new member here and was after some advice from those who obviously love their turbo's. I currently drive an XR8 ute and was seriously considering trading on a nice XR6T I spotted. Now I know that the turbo's are a pretty special car, hence the reason I for the dillema. Have any of you owned a BOSS, traded on a turbo and then regretted the decision. Obviously if your on this forum, you hold the turbo's high and so do I, but I think I'd be heartbroken if I got rid of my ute and then thought "bugger". Thanks for your helpPauldude ,I had a mate who owned a GTP for ages and he was the same as you wasnt sure if he would like the turbo or not .anyway he brought a f6 r spec .and didnt look back .... In actually fact why would even a modded V8 even bother trying with most of the modded turbo 6s out there. You are just setting yourself up for embarrassment by trying IMO. But if you dont mind that ego damaging feeling then go buy one. Some people get their rocks off on waisting heaps of fuel and making a bit of a rumbling noise. Good on em. The more V8 drivers out there the more to blow into the weeds. It makes it more fun for us turbo6 guys

BFYOOT Member 11 Member For: 16y 8m 24d Posted 19/03/08 03:01 AM Author Share Posted 19/03/08 03:01 AM well, the test drive never happened yesterday, spent all arvo mon and some of yesterday morning cleaning, polishing and detailing, then had some work dramas which meant I couldnt go in. Was all keen to go in this thurs, then last night when parked in a car park, I looked at my ute, all clean and polished (1st time in months, well since my wedding in Sept!!) and got all sentimental about it. Thought to myself, silly to get rid of it just yet when I still really enjoy it. In reality, the car in question was a bit of a mystery, the dealer couldnt tell me anything about it, like mods etc, and I was a bit hesitant to go for a car that is so easiliy modded without knowing what had been done. That and the fact that if I wait 6 months or so till the FG is released, I will have paid off an extra $4k on my ute, meaning I will have more bargaining power, maybe even on the new model, if not a runout BF. So, unfortunately I will have to wait to become a legitimate member of the turbo club, but thankyou all for your help and advice, this is one of the best forums going around and I might just stick around if its ok to have a lowly V8 driver on here!!And Derek, cheers for the offer mate, sounds like a weapon you got there. If your ever down Kiama (I work in Kiama) or Shoalhaven Heads/Berry way let us know, ill see what a real sweet ride looks like!!Thanks to you all, see you round the streetsPaul

If you are lookin at modding it heavily, it will be cheaper in the end. I think that would be worth thinkin about mate. If that one has, that would be a big bonus.Very good point. Builds from 06/06 onwards have stronger rods so this one seems to have missed out by a a month. You need to negotiate that price down I reckon. Dont let them see any fear in your eyes and drill them for 4 or 5 k cheaper. They should do it. The FG coming out will drive prices down in the next few months,
