I can`t beleive all these anti religous people.

I must be the only religous person on the site.

Oh well If I`m wrong I didn`t really lose anything at least know I was honest and tried to do the morally right thing.

If you aetheist are wrong you will all burn in hell.

I know churches have been the instigators of a lot of war the holly crusade etc.

But they have also done a lot of good. There is evil in everybody, it is up to the individual as to whether they are good or evil.

As for the Americans they are dumb as f*ck, but if they didn`t enter ww2 we would have all been f*cked.

I am a greek australian, when the turks invaded cyprus all the greeks cracked it at america for not helping them. Apparently the us wanted to put bases in cyprus but the greeks wouldnt let them, when they found out the turks would let them put bases they just sat there and watched.Do you blame the u.s I dont.

When any country is in trouble who does everybody run too, the u.s look at kosovo...did they have oil?

The U.s have long been seen as the police of the world when any county is in trouble.

If I was president of the U.s I would have just taken over the world as they are an unpreciative bunch. The only reason they dont is its easier to manage most of the other countries through economics.

Look at the New zealanders they hate the u.s but if the indonesians invaded australia and the U.s didnt come to help, New zealand wouldn`t stand a chance.

To say the Kiwis hate the yanks is a bit of an overstatement, maybe they they are anti nuke, but hate is a strong word. I can tell you I was in the US twice for a month at a time last year and the country is in diabolicals at the moment and considering whats happened to the US economy in the last 3 minths, they have too much on their plate to worry about anyone else at the moment. Simple. The bankers own the earth, always have, always will. If there is going to be 3rd world war the bankers and the old wealthy families who control the banks will decide, where how and when. I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. When you look around the globe the world is already at war. We are just lucky to be so far away from it all.

Anyone catch that Shiek (spelling) on the news the other day talking about westerners in bali and the like? You can't tell me that that isn't messed up.

I'm not much of a religious person but at least the pope and budda don't tell us to bash the other side because they are maggots.

so you think it was a good enough reason to invade a country resulting in the death of up to 600,000 civilians on the basis of a MASSIVE LIE (Weapons of mass destruction) but really to secure an oil supply and get rid of a leader that the west supported and armed for so many years? If you think that's a good enough reason then you are worse than a terrorist.

Nooooooooo. Read the thread, take it ALL in, then make your comments on the whole thing, not just the bits you want to use to prop up your views.

I don't support any wars, but my point was that everyone who is quick to condem the US, always uses a media fed simplistic view of an oil led invasion based on lies. No one is willing to look at any of the positives, the main one being the reomoval of a dangerous murdering dictator.

Secondly, as I've already said, ultimately the US went in because the UN was not doing their job. If the UN was doing their job, they would have been able to ascertain that the US's claims were false, or innacurate. Additionally, little media focus has been given to the fact that the US did uncover at least one chemical weapons factory (which was inactive and empty), and at least one mobile lab (which was buried in the sand). What's to say that Sadam didn't move his operations across the border, thanks to the delays caused by the UN. The UN was asked by the US to investigate their findings, yet the UN didn't. Instead, the UN was staying out of key areas because Sadam told them not to go there (a breach of his UN agreement). The US gave the UN months to make sure Sadam was compliant, and gave them months of warning that they would take matters into their own hands if the UN didn't carry out their duties. The UN did nothing and the US went in. No matter what your position is on the Iraq war, the UN is ultimately responsible for allowing it to happen. If it was about oil the US would have gone in months earlier. Notice how the UN let the US go ahead with the first Iraq war, then called it a UN mission once they knew the majority of the world supported it.

My whole point is that the Iraq war, like all other wars in history, cannot be simplified into one cause (as we are led to beleive).

On the religion side of things, WWII did have religious involvement, ie Hitler and his hatred for Jews.

The comments on religion being all about money and power are spot on. Look at the Catholic Church's latest hypocricy in their modernisation of the ten commandments. One being a condemnation of pedafilia, the other condeming excessive wealth. So here's the world's richest organisation condeming excessive wealth, and an organisation with a history of doing nothing about pedifiles within their own ranks telling us to do as they say, not as they do.

With any luck we'll be invaded by aliens, causing the world to unify in the interest of survival :mexicanwave:

Everyone has to justify their actions when it comes to something as serious as invasion and war. Yes, wars have been happening since man has been on this earth. War continues to be used as a tool to bring about peace. But globally, are we more peaceful now than 50, 100, 500, 1000 years ago?

War deaths totalled 4.4 million in the 18th century, 8.3 million in the 19th and 175+ million in the 20th century. Since the 18th century alone, war deaths have increased more than 6 times faster than the worlds population. There were more than 10 times as many deaths per war in the 20th century as in the 19th. I have heard people argue that the increase in deaths can be attributed to an increase in technology. But technology doesn't purpose, create or use itself.

Peace out people!

It says in the bible that God has left what happens on earth to chance and time, rarely interviening. That is basically the bibles answer to why babies die of cancer etc. Doesn't mean it is right or fair to us but that's just what it says. If you beleive the bible then that's the reason. If you dont beleive the bible then its no a good enough reason obviously.
