don't you multiply rwkw to engine kw (rough only) by 1.21... you don't get 34% driveline loss, do you? :unsure:

I go by 1 rwhp = 1 kw at the flywheel.

I compare a lot of my customers dyno results with the hp rating of the turbo and generally I find average driveline loss is around 17%.

9 times out of 10 the dyno figures work out frighteningly close to the rated hp of a turbo

you right its about 25%. Looks like R-SPEC got robbed by 5 KW. KW x 1.34 equals HP

take this supra that was just tuned for example.

to4z,25 psi on pulp it made 567rwhp

567rwhp x 1.17= 663 engine hp

the turbo is rated at 700hp max and this one has a .81 rear housing(small) so the figures are pretty much spot on,bigger rear housings would push that figure toward the 700hp mark

I go by 1 rwhp = 1 kw at the flywheel.

That's generally how it works. If a standard BF MKII XR6T is badged at 245kw at the fly, they should expect on average 182rwkw. If an F6 is badged at 270kw at the fly, they should expect on average 200rwkw. If you look at all of the standard readouts from most of these two cars, they're quite similar. As we know they're all different, coz F6's usually pull 210rwkw to 230rwkw stock (depending on the dyno too) but every car is different, obviously.

Can someone who dyno's these things put their 2 cents in?

For the last 5 years we've worked on a 20% drivetrain loss as a rule of thumb.

If you were to go through the old forum threads you'll find there's been plenty of discussion on the topic.

Manuals differ from auto's, with less loss.

Not worth getting too excited about it.

There's also plenty of variation between stock cars.

I poped open the bonnet and no one said anything in the merchendise shop, and saw the Boss 302 plate on the FG pursuit engine.

I thought it was meant to be 315kw?

According to MOTOR, all FG FPV's are labelled 302 now, but expect it to be adjusted on release.

Can someone who dyno's these things put their 2 cents in?

There are so many variables it isn't funny.

What oil is in the trans and diff, what diff ratio, what tyres are on the rear, different mufflers (chamber, perforated, hotdog, straight through) and then you will get variations per car from being a Friday build or mid week build.

But as said above we work on a 1rwhp=1f/wkw.

Lastly, Different manufacturers measure powr differently. The Japs have been knwn to do a power run with NO accesories attached to the motor (I.e alternator, aircon, power steering, sometimes water pump) where as most european manufacturers will have everything bolted on. What way Ford do it I don't know but these could cause a variation as well.

hi all,

I spotted a FG xr8 around 130 am friday nite driving on kings road and pulled into delehay maccas (western suburbs vic). was a blue/green colour, looked pretty good and sounded pretty loud for a stock xr8. anyway I thought these arnt on sale yet so how are they driven on the roads?
