Hey guys, I'm in the process of getting off my ass and doin some proper mods. The ???s I want to ask are what intercooler and plenum can I get on a budget but still be able to get some decent power, nothing over the top maybe around 300 or so. I have had my wallet stripped kinda bare lately as the other half has decided after 10 years we should get married. So febuary next year it is going to be :surrenderwave: , But that is another story.

Any way I have a capa box with geneirc tunes in it(not capa) that is being looked at in melbourne to try and get a different and safe tune in it before I have to make a trip over in person with the ute and do it the right way.(will try anything once). I was looking at the rapid cooler for $589 and plenum for $1495 but I would rather the air filter be under the hood and not near the ground(personal choice), So does anyone have any other suggestions that I could look at for a no hassle straight bolt on system on the "I'm getting married so I have to pay up for that budget side of things".

Once I get all this together + new injectors then I will jump on the boat and head to the BIG smoke for a custom tune and give some of these tassie boys a good run at the local drag strip(tarmak dragway) :tonguepoke: .

I would say get the rapid cooler system, the airbox is a bit expensive but if you can live with the underbattery airfilter system you can save a bit of money.

plazmaman, a site sponsor here has a battery and airfilter kit that will work with the rapid cooler and plenum and mount the filter under the bonnet.

im using the same unberbattery airfilter as the rapid systems one and I find it to be awsome, good noise on spool up and proven airflow rates to produce plenty of hp.

with the rapid cooler, ub intake siemens injectors and a good zorst and tune you will see 300rwkw without the plenum.

Thanx bfhoon, Had a couple of PMs so now doing some shopping. I think I will just go with a IC at the moment and move to a plenum later down the track(before kiddies start popping out) and then push for over 300. See how I go.

PW do a kit that uses a stock design cooler (in and out same side) and uses his aftermarket crossover pipe but still stock plenum. with piping etc is about $785 I think but again uses an under batter intake not in the engine bay.

as far as I'm aware if you want the intake inside the bonnet and an aftermarket plenum the only choice is plazmaman as everyone else uses the under the headlight design. plazmaman's intake kit is quite expensive (sure the workmanship is great though) but your looking at $1500 for a kit with a cold air box, new battery, filter and piping straight into turbo.

personally I'd just go the under headlight design, rapid's gear is becoming more and more tempting as he brings out new products and PW has great prices for good looking gear too, you can always modify the piping so the filter is higher

Ended up going with rapids high flow V3 kit. I think I will start getting a few bits and pieces together before I do a complete install and custom tune. Costs will be a lot extra for me as I live in tassie and have to take the ute to melbourne for any tuning. Will see what the future holds.
