How does all these big intercoolers on the market effect airflow to the radiator?? im looking at getting a pw stage 2 cooler and it nearly completely covers the radiator. I do already have a 180 deg F thermostat.

Its fine dont worry. What I really dont want like or need is the bloody aircon rad in front of it ! Ill take the whole thing out one day and replace the air condenser with an oil catch can ! I have the p/w cooler my car never gets hot. Nothin to do with the cooler man just get one !

ive noticed with my rapid cooler the car heats up quicker but my car is missing the air deflector thing that goes under the front bumper and I havent upgraded to a 180deg thermostat....I think that should fix the problem?

It should get the temp down. Ive always noticed the temp sit a little below half if I dont have the shield on with the original thermostate... shield on it sits 1/3 on the guage.

I think if your going to run a big cooler, its a good idea to make sure your radiator is in good condition to be safe, and get the lower temp thermostat fitted.

Cheers

Factory water temp guages only have 3 positions..

Normal, hot and off the guage.

Generally normal is anywhere under 102 degree C, hot is 102-115, off the guage is boiling.

If you have ever had an aftermarket water temp guage you will see that it constantly moves as the thermostat regulates the water temp.

So if you are seeing the factory guage move from its normal position the car is not happy.

heres some drawings on theory I was looking into when I was reaserching what intercooler I was going to buy.

im not claiming either one is better just showing in theory the difference in airflow to the radiator between bar and plate and tube and fin.
