xr6t4life Member 129 Member For: 15y 6m 15d Gender: Male Location: Perth WA Posted 25/09/11 05:16 AM Share Posted 25/09/11 05:16 AM need some help I have gotten as far as taking the 4 bolts out and loosening the 2 that are fouled by the oil return line but it seems my exhaust housing is stuck solid onto the core of the turbo so far I have tried hitting it with a mallat wd40 trying to turn it but it just wont budge.sooo does any1 have any ideas or is it best to just give to my tuner to pull off as I dont know how how easy it is to break the fins if I smash it to hard with the hammer??sean Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
1600dave Donating Members 872 Member For: 14y 20d Posted 13/10/11 10:09 PM Share Posted 13/10/11 10:09 PM Mine is the same mate, have a new housing to go on but stuffed if the old ones is coming off without a fight!!I didn't want to damage fins or bend the shaft so left it be for the mechanic who puts the new turbo on, to change my rear housing over.Apparently they require lots of heat, and then should just about drop off. I'm guessing yes but dont remember seeing it when I pulled it off (was in a hurry to get the turbo to the shop though) and cant find the old one anywhere. Called ford and they said it didnt need one. Seems strange to me but oh well. Has a obvious crack but that's no biggie and will be addressed in due course.Just used a Dremel/snake adaptor along with appropriate cutting/smoothing tools.
