But I really need some help here.I got in the BA MK II XR6T last sunday to drive the car to the central coast for a famly reunion. It started as normal, and the A/C was on from the day before so I turned it off. It was still dark so I turned the headlights on and while the headlights came on, the dash failed to light up (all warning lights etc... were fine, just no back illumination . I thought I would test some other things - the A/C wouldnt come back on (nothing on the LCD, no fan or compressor action) , the power windows wouldnt go down, the speedo is sitting at 10kph at idle and is doing some weird flicker when I turn it off. I checked all fuses and found a blown tail light - that's it.I Disconnected the battery overnight (I took the old turbo taxi down to Central Coast) came home this Monday morning and reconnected the batery I now had dash lights but no A/C and no power windows.I called a bloke who works on taxis and he suggested there might be a broken spring in the ignition that would cause those symptoms, he got me to wiggle the key back towards the off positon and this did get the windows going again for a few seconds, but I have not been able to do it again. Anyone seen this before? In my 49,000 k's and 128,000 on the car I have had no problems and this came out of nowhereAny help appreciated.Update: 10/03/2008 I disconnected the BCM - no change.Update: 11/03/2008 Ford found 26 fault codes but have cleared them and its going back tomorrow.Update 11/03/2008 Car ran faultlessly into Dubbo and back out. No issues except the lack of A/C display and fan or compressor action, and the lack of Power windows 12/03/2008 another day with ford no answers. Ford propose to swap out the BCM with a known worker to see if that is he issue. If not the HIN will need to come out (its about a 7.5 hour job at $80 per hour.) You may need a repair manual and patience to locate all the earths for interior. And I'd be checking all earths under bonnet also. One common problem with a lot of cars that gets overlooked initially is the ignition and associated connectors around drivers feet / steering column. They can become disslodged over time.that's where I would be starting, hope you get it sorted soon!
Guest newl Guests Posted 14/03/08 04:41 AM Share Posted 14/03/08 04:41 AM Could be a loose plug connection under the ICC too. However, if the key wiggling trick did things to make things work, it might not be related to that at all as others have mentioned.
TURBOTAXI Member 62 Member For: 18y 28d Posted 14/03/08 06:42 AM Author Share Posted 14/03/08 06:42 AM Thanks for the replies folks I agree it sounds like an earthing issue, but after a few days he intermittent nature of the windows has revealed itself to be quite predictable.Every third of fourh start the windows work for about 1 minute after starting and then wont work again for three to four starts The a/c has not been on at all. This is leading me to think a computer hs developed a mind of its own.The fault codes keep pointing to the HIN and BCM.Ford have ordered ina a new Body control module and will fit that Monday - if that fixes it then we know BCM was the issue if it does not fix it then the HIN module comes out and gets replaced too.If none of these work then we are back to sqaure one looking at every connection in the car. I took the whole radio a/c bit out on sunday and checked those connections, they were OK. But the problem is in that area.

TURBOTAXI Member 62 Member For: 18y 28d Posted 18/03/08 09:14 AM Author Share Posted 18/03/08 09:14 AM Hi Folks,Got the BEM (BCM) changed today by ford - they thought that might be the problem. No good. They now want to replace the ICC (Did you realise they are $4000+ from ford?) Luckily I have found one out of a GT delivered to Dubbo for $400.So this is the next task. What do you guys think in regards to the BEM being replaced? Is changing the BEM mandatory when changing the ICC (this is what the dealership tells me). It dose not sound right to me.So I still have no A/C (At all!) and no pwr windows (except evrerynow and agin)Help appreciated.
TURBOTAXI Member 62 Member For: 18y 28d Posted 04/04/08 10:37 AM Author Share Posted 04/04/08 10:37 AM We have now replaced the BCM, the HIM the ICC and checked all earths. No good. The bill is at $2100 and we still dont know what the problem is.This is starting to wear thin. On the plus side, it looks like I can claim it all through my insurance since I am likely to have caused the damage with my jump start. What sucks is that in 2008 we cant find a problem with a car where the cars computers were meant to tell us everything.Anyone got any suggestions?I am starting to think the issue is somewhere in the harness now - what do you think? I just restart it a couple of times and it seems to fix itself. Next time I leave the car and then restart it no problem. At the moment, cant take it in to ford as it happens only very rarely. I think our problems have the same route.....will be very interested to hear the outcome!
