Anyway, 'driveaway' in the ACT the model we are after is $20,900 - how much should we offer for a demonstrator which has done 100km?Im thinking offer 18, they will counter, and hopefully settle on 18500 or 18750. wot do youze reckons eh? Depending on how long the car has been registered you could get anywhere from an extra $500 - $1000 off with a demo. Also take into account how much a new one is. Small cars don't have alot of margin in them, so work off that

If it was my demo, I count see that much in it considering it is still so new

In that case you should be able to get it for close to

Im keen to be able to back out of the deal coz the Mrs hasnt sold her Kluger and weve said were waiting on the sale to occur sunday.Annoyingly as I was walking around the dealers I was standing on a median strip and a salesman in a nearby yard called out to me - talk about desperate, I wasnt even on his premises! Now I know what girls feel like when they get hit on by desperate losers.Today's salesman virtually tried to tell me a Dec07 build is really Jan 08 coz its compliance plate says 08 - sorry, it was built in Japan in 2007. Im sure he wouldnt let me do the same to him if I was trying to sell a used car back to him or trade one in. He also reckons the margin on small cars is in the hundreds of dollars. Im not sure if I believe him on that. The nugget also tried to talk down the 100km on it as a demo - hello - its had at least 10 strange arses and paws in it. maybe 40!I expect 1000 off coz its a demo, 1000 off coz its 2007. and maybe 500 coz dealer delivery (1600) is a overpriced crock.Do u reckon that's unreasonable thinking on my part Senna? The car is classified as an 08 because it was complied here, so as far as Mazda is concerned, that vehicle is not eligible for the 07 bonus. And on the other hand, 100kms is bugger all for a demo, and there is really no incentive for the dealer to sell it for nothing when it has had so little use from the car.The bit about small car margins isn't too far from the truth. And the dealer delivery charges aren't all profit. For example we get charged $1200 per car from other departments for labour (things like pre-delivery detailing, road tests, fitting of any accessories)I've said this in another thread, if you want a really good deal, go to the dealer with your deposit in hand, ready to buy and tell them you want their best deal, try a counter offer and see what happens. The most important thing while bargaining as to make the salesperson blatantly aware that he will sell a car there and then
