what do you think happens to air after it is compressed by the turbo? why do we have intercoolers?

to cool the air that is heated by the turbo.

Also why have cold air intakes? Its easier for a cooler to cool cooler air than hotter air... Correct? What does colder air equal? I think we all know that one...

What he probably is saying is that from a standard xr airbox, this is better for performance

due to the fact the standard airbox is restricting flow.

Sure enough he is getting hot air on the in take but at least he has plenty of flow.

If his cooler is controlling temps to a reasonably temp then it will be a improvement.

I have also tried this myself but not from the the same position, I ran mine from the

flexi hose off the x-over.

after a few runs on a hot night the pod was pretty hot.

Unless you try it dont knock it.

Its the cheapest way of improving flow.

using the f6 intake or cutting holes in the airbox front behind the headlight would

be a better option.

$199 from Autobarn

1 1/2 inch inlet spigot.

At first had to have it wound fully to 'soft' to get it venting at all as the spring in it is pretty heavy duty.

Still not much go, so cut 4 coils off the spring and set it at half way..doses once or twice then tries to blow the bonnet lining off!! Love it.

Well mate this is how it is... With the stock crossover and piping the ute pinged slightly on a 10 pound tune. NOW with this intake setup, the boost has risen 3 pound, I am yet to hear it ping loaded in 3rd full noise, and when I pull up I can comfortably place my hand on the hotside piping.

that means sh*t.... GAINING 3psi un-tuned will make it ping MORE. :stupid:

Just bought and fitted up a Drift BOV. Heres some pics, the machine quality and appearance of it are really good , as good as any Turbosmart item I have seen.

guys, new to this forum. I know this thread is a lil old.. though I just swap my hks ss bov 2day for a drift bov... picked it up for $50 in excelent cond with all the adapters boxed etc...

Also I do agree with the 'heavy duty spring' I mite try to cut some coils off the spring aswell... I like the setup now as my pod flutters for couple of seconds (3-4secs) and you hear the bov come on midway (quite loud)... though each to their own with bov sounds... Would love to have the DOSE sound though the performance is drastically reduced having it so close to the engine (hot air) and the uncertainty of turbo damage if any etc
