Posted 06/03/08 10:35 AM Share Posted 06/03/08 10:35 AM I've done this in my 1989 nissan GQ patrol, but it is an entirely different setup to what the Falcon would be. I used a manually controlled system which I would not recommend for the XR with all the electronics to potentially blow up. You would definitely want to go with one of the computer controlled units or even a simple solenoid with those $30 surge protectors might do the trick. Would love the 2nd battery to charge while car is running, I know this can be done, but want to find out as much as I can before I can go down this path... You are looking for larger Ah, not CCA.Recently bought a new gel cel deep cycle, $400, that should last a good 5+yrs in our application.Battery will have to be mounted in the boot, and you will need an appropriate thickness cable, too big and long and you will have major voltage drop.
