Hey there guys,

I've recently become a Ford fanatic. I've historically not been much of a car enthusiast but the more and more I read about XR6T's the more and more I want one. Screw the riceburners!

I get my full license in November this year (so no more turbo restriction) so I'm already planning what I want... I'm planning on buying a second-hand car, around the 25-30k. I think with the new range of Falcons coming out this year 2nd hand prices should come down a little faster than usual... Just in time!

The BA MKII and the original BF seem to fall in a similar price band. I'm trying to find out what are the major differences between the two?

I'm def. after the 6-speed manual. Is there much of a difference between the transmissions in these two cars? Any other considerations?

I'm trying to learn as much as possible.. All input appreciated!

Thanks.

The only mechanical difference between BA II and BF really is the 5 kw from Variable Cam control. The BFs are easier to detect the edit.

The other differences are largely cosmetic, until later BFs that have better rods and valvesprings like the F6.

Probably not looking to sell for ages - as long as the machine is fast and fun to drive I'll have no need to pour any more money in a newer vehicle (unless my job lands me one)...

My dream car is an Audi RS4 so I think I have a far way to go, lol... Nothing in mind to make me want to get anything

Since I'm a auto-noob, how much does a manual gearbox cost to replace? Pretty stupid question I bet. Don't laugh too hard!

Hoping for a car around 50-60km so I hope the clunking won't be too bad :P

The newer model will always be better for re-sale and also be a more up to date car. Now that the BF's get the ZF 6sp auto, make sure you drive one before deciding completely on a manuel. The ZF has converted a lot of ppl on here.

And if your going to mod it, make sure its a BF with the stronger internal engine components.
