Not quite true, Bosch invented most of the electronic goodies you find in a modern car, Merc and BMW are just the first car companies to use them.

Ahuh

It is widely accepted today that Karl Benz and Gottlieb Daimler were the first to produce a "horseless carriage".

The "Safety cage" or "Safety cell" construction with front and rear crumple zones was first developed by Mercedes-Benz in 1951.

Anti-lock brakes (ABS), traction control and airbags in the European market, were all Mercedes-Benz innovations. These technologies were introduced in 1978, 1986 and 1980 respectively.

Mercedes-Benz was the first to introduce pre-tensioners to seat belts on the 1981 S-Class. In the event of a crash, a pre-tensioner will tighten the belt almost instantaneously, preventing the passenger from jerking forward in a crash.

Stability control, brake assist, and many other types of safety equipment were all developed, tested, and implemented into passenger cars—first—by Mercedes-Benz.

The most powerful naturally aspirated eight cylinder engine in the world is the Mercedes-AMG, 6208 cc M156 V8 engine. It is the first engine in the world to combine large displacement with the high-revving concept, allowing it to produce around 20 percent more torque than comparable naturally aspirated engines in this performance class.

That's a lot more than most car companies. If you read up on them, they're quite an amazing company, and their cars are an actual pleasure to drive, not a slogan.

no worries mate, it just gets me revved up when I'm put in the "sleazy salesman" bracket

Maybe you need to get another occupation Senna? The one you have has a rep for being just that unforutnately. If it bugs you that much, go out and become a plumber. Then we can hit you with the toilet jokes instead! :tonguepoke:
