Hey guys, was driving the T home 2day and it started beeping like mad at me, looked at the Temp gauge and it was in the RED! anyway like 3secs after it beeped at me it and it shut the engine down and ran like sh*t, I waited a while for it to cool down, after that started her up again and bam the same thing, so I kept it off and checked the thermo stat, sure enough that was it, changed it and its back to normal, after that took it for a long drive and all seems normal, question is do you think it whould have caused any engine damage? are they ment to turn off or run like arse like a limp home mode when there over heating??

Doubt it

There’s a few safeguards built in to them like shutting down cylinders etc so that you can still get where you need to. But I would still get it checked as there’s obviously still something at fault that caused it in the first place. :bangcomputer:

The falcon has engine protection routines when the engine overheats , you should be ok. Just keep an eye on it for awhile.

Yep Ive had a thermostat seize shut on my ol Gemini yrs ago. Nothing will cause this, its just a component failure.

If you chucked your old thermostat in a container of boiling water and it didnt open then yep, fault confirmed.
