Guys..

Once the bolts come loose, you will never be able to tighten them up. They will just keep coming out.

REPLACE the nut and studs with brand new ones from ford..

Retail price for the 4 studs and 4 copper like nuts is under $30

Problem solved

By the way, replaceing the 2 front ones top and bottom might be a bit difficult, top one has a water line in the way, the bottom one, you need a 4" extension shaft with a slight wiggle on the end (a uni wont fit in there).

Everytime I change actuator and port wastegate, I replace all those nuts and studs to combat them coming out again, which they do.

Ohh and I read above someone mentioned something about a turbo to manifold gaskit. Sorry mate, none exist on the xr6turbo, the only gaskit is the dump pipe to turbo.

Hey Danny,

Check with Nizpro, they fitted a gasket along with new inconnel studs and lock nuts to my turbo just before Christmas. (its a thin metal gasket, which you can see between the turbo and manifold)

Do you have a recomendation for replacing the Manifold bolts (12 into head).

I purchased one a few weeks ago from Fraud, and its different to what I have, it has 4 notches in the back of the bolt head, with matching notches in the washer, which is spring loaded and has a number of teeth to bite into the manifold.

Wondering if its worth buying the rest and doing the lot with these or are there better available?

Gav

well had a bit of spare time this morn. None of my turbo bolts were loose, no bolts on the dump but I did find two a little loose at either end of the exhaust manifold.

Pretty easy job took me about half a hour.

Also had a bit of a look at the turbo inlet as well. Perfect condition. All the fins were in good nick and there was next to no play in the shaft. Pretty good I reckon for a car that's done around 100k
