Have a BF mk2 XR6T 6sp man 20k & lately when it is cold it is fine as soon as it warms up it is shaking all over the joint & feel like a miss. The good chaps at my local dealership have replaced coils, spark plugs & the newest software but there computer is not working at the moment to do any tests.

When it is warm & I give it some between 3500-5200 it surges & just doesn't feel right then when I pull up it idles really rough.

I picked it up from the dealship cold & I thought yes they have fixed when but the engine warmed up I give it a bit then it was idling rough all the time agian.

When I put on the A/C at idle it makes a knocking nice my heart dropped the first time I heard it till I workrd out that it goes away when turning of the A/C.

Coil Drivers ?

Valve Spring ?

Thanks !

Im taking a lot of intersest in this topic my BA does the same and is down on power in a big way whether its on standard tune or 10 psi. Mine is in getting the springs fitted right now and I am picking it up tomorrow so I will let you know if it fixes the problem, im really really really hoping so.

I could tell mine were soft and needed changing when I'd give it a bootfull then slow down and stop at lights,

the car would run like sh*t and idle really rough almost to the point of it stalling, then after a few seconds it would go back to normal idle

Got some nizpro's fitted and doesn't happen anymore

Sounds very familiar to a typhoon and a territory, both which we had in to the dealership in the same week. They both had rough idle when warm, the typhoon was down on power and was surging and when the problem occured they both sounded like they had performance cams. After several hours doing the usuall checks and tests we found the cam timing had jumped a tooth on the crank. We have never seen this problem before and then 2 in 1 week. Neither of them had any engine work or mods previously and had done about 30,000km. Suggest it to your dealer if they get stuck and cant find problem.

I had my nizpro springs fitted yesterday and it has made a difference the idle is not as rough and it seems to have a little bit more power, well probably torque. In saying this I still get a bit of pop coming from the exhaust and not a perfect idle so I do not believe I have got to the bottom of this problem yet, im starting to get really annoyed reading how everyone else has so much power with ease but I cant seem to get it.

My valve springs died a few months go and were replaced $800. Symptoms included missing at high rev's. I think some people might call it surging or pinging, I'm not to sure but when the rev's hit about 4500 the motor would miss. It didnt have any problems idling.

valve springs fixed it.
