this was pretty much what he did I think.

To keep the pump noise down I used a piece of 16m/m natural rubber with M6 C/S bolts sunken in and Nylok nuts. I considered using the small round rubber mounts with the studs in but I have seen too many broken ones and didn't want my fuel pump bouncing along on the road underneath. To clarify there is an aluminium pump bracket on the pump which is bolted to the rubber and the countersunk heads are below the rubber surface so the pump is completely isolated from the car.

Getting the factory pump out from underneath is easy (on a hoist).

Disconnect the fuel pump relay and run dry. disconnect the fuel lines, drop the straps, unbolt the metal brackets & move the canister from the top. Shimmy the tank on an angle then get in over the top with a stubby phillips. twist teh pump 90 degrees on the way out so the float doesn't catch..

Compressed air is a good idea to get rid of the crud prior to starting, as is a 1/4 tank of fuel.

I've done 4 now. Takes ~1hr from start to running again.

044/surge setup should have new wiring and relay but nice job none the less..

I'm lazy and purchased the plazmaman pump and surge tank thing. Had it fitted and from inside you can not hear it at all and from outside you can but it's not loud enough to care about it.

Here is the fixed post

So ive started installing a 2L surge tank and Bosch 044 pump into my ute.

Parts ive used so far.

Bosch 044: $200

Mounting Braket: $42

Tank: $140

3/8 & 5/16 EFI hose/clamps: $75

Speedflow checkvalve/fittings: $105

Aluminum Plate: $0

Wire/Relay/Bolts/Connectors/Misc: $60

Keep in mind that some of these items have freight added on also.

The plate I used is 330mm long, 160mm wide and 6mm thick. I just happened to have some laying around so it did the trick nicely. Ive bolted it in 5 places using 3 10mm bolts and 2 8mm bolts. I just used existing holes in the ute.

For the wiring, ive spliced into the 12v supply from the stock pump (pink wire) and ran it to a relay. For the 12v supply for the 044 ive spliced into another pink wire which has constant 12v on it which runs to the towbar connector. Not sure what its use is. Ive concealed all the wiring that ive run within the standard loom.

Ive fused that 12v supply with a 20A fuse as close as possible to the relay.

Ive mounted the pump to a vertical section of the tray. The lower hole was tricky to drill as you need a short drill and you have to get to it from under the car.... Its a tight squeeze. The top hole is simple. Im going to try to insulate the braket with some rubber.

Im yet to mount the tank or run the fuel hose as yet. That will be a job for later in the week when the tank and speedflow fittings arrive.

I didnt expect this to add up to so much. The PW tank is $600ish without a pump I thought I could get out of it a bit cheaper. In hindsight though maybe not. I like to give myself projects to undertake on the weekend.

Im going to mount the pump braket on two of these. The studs are isolated by rubber. So I reckon it should keep it nice and quiet.

This thing is 29cm long from the fitting to fitting!!!!!

Todays efforts.... Still awaiting the tank to show up, it was sent from Sydney 7 days ago via Oz post, but due to Cairns being on the other side of the globe from Sydney it still hasnt arrived....

All the fuel lines have been run, so as soon as the tank gets here I can mount it and connect the fuel lines and fire it up!

All the mounting bolts/screws for the fuel pump have also been loctited, that's the last thing I want to fall off the car.....

Hopefully these exhaust hanger rubber mounts should keep the pump quiet?

Ok, so I finally got my tank today. 12 days registered post from Sydney to Cairns...Hmmm!

Mounted the tank and ran the fuel lines. Ive only kicked it to on to prime the tank then hooked up the bosch and hit the key to on again to confirm operation. Havnt started it yet, bit late at night for that....

Ill fire it up tomorrow, but ive gotta wait until it stops raining till I can take it for a drive. Would like to go for a blocky with the tray liner out to confirm there is no leaks.

Little bit more expensive then I had initially planned, little more work then expected and it tool a bit longer then expected to....!
