Hi There,

I have been searching and trawling through many previous posts which kind of address my points I'd like clearified, but not really as accurately as I would Like. I used to have a XR6T modded and did the centre muffler removal, Edit combo. It worked well, but sounded crappy. Tried a custom made 3" exhaust (it was that or the too expensive APS system that was almost the only option that time..)

Now, I am the proud owner of a new Phoon R Spec and would like to achieve the following goals with your help please. I do not really know the car well enough to know if the end outcome with a decent exhaust will be any different to the modded XR6T was back a few years now.

Ideally like;

1. Nice note, this car sounds too clinical, not engaging enough at all. I love the rex roar of a boxer motor/3" combo...but that's a rex. What do you guys feel is a great sounding exhaust? Heard lot's of good stuff about the price/quality of the X Force...and yes, I would change the cat and say a meatier sounding muffler, but not sure if I need to replace cat back and if so, which system/where in Melb/$$?

2. Edit, with a decent cat/exhaust and Edit, what might this car make rwkw wise from your experience and is it going to be basically the same as the XR6T was with these similar mods or will it be better & have more pull as it should have some better stock parts = more rwkw? I read that 270 is about where the rwkw would end with these mods..?

Appreciate any and all help :blink:

hmmm, a dual 2.5" exhaust always sounds decent in my opinion, but regardless of size, it depends on the mufflers you use - "hotdogs" will be loud and large mufflers will be quiet

Mate, I bought a full x-force system, twin 2 1/2" including highflow cat and dump. Havent had a chance to fit it all up yet as I'm not gonna be near a tuner anytime soon. However, I put the end sections on myself on the weekend, with the two mufflers, joining up to the stock y-section pipe after the cat. Figure that should be fine without a retune. Anyway, sounds unreal! Very good rumble, sounds like a v8! But not too loud and definately doesnt drone. Highly recommend it if you just after a decent sound. Also felt a bit of a boost in power, she's chirping the tyres up nicely!

I would wait till after your first oil change when you dump the run in oil for a good synthetic.

Im not sure how well they stack up but ive got a redback cat back, twin 2.5 on mine, with the rear muffler replaced with a pair of small hotdogs, I think, along with alot of other people, that it sounds really good, has a little bit of a tough lumpyness too it.....
