You admit that you were speeding. There are consequences for speeding these days. Unfortunately you have to live and deal with what ever consequences your are dealt. Up here 40klm over the limit is instant loss of license. 110 in an 80 is pretty foolish anyway.

* engaging in an unauthorised race or speed trial on a road or spaces near a road that are open to the public

This could have been what pushed the boys in blue to take the action they did.

I have been in this situation before, back when I had my POS toyota soarer. The only advice I can give you for when you go to court, is get hold of a lawyer and get them to provide you with a good affadavit form to fill out. Furthermore, accept the blame for what you've done, but provide good reason for why you still need your license. I booked myself in for a defensive driving course before I went to court as well, this helped me look a little better in the eyes of the judge. I ended up getting off with just a massive fine, but you need to prove your case pretty well. Learnt my lesson!

hopefully an eye-opener for everyone. we can have lot's of fun in these cars, but it can get out of hand pretty quickly and the speedo can rocket off in the excitement direction rather momentarily. Unfortunately (but also very fortunately) there are laws against doing what you did, and you got caught.

I don't think you're going to get much support as to why they did it, but just be prepared for the punishment mate.

Sorry to hear it, but hopefully you'll learn to control your urges from now on

You're lucky you didnt kill anyone going at that speed. I would say they are correct in the speed they posted unless you are willing to dispute it.

$500 consider yourself lucky that's all you have to deal with. To many times these kind of events end up on late night news....

Just take it easy mate and enjoy your car without breaking the law.

last night, had my T impounded. $500 to get it out.....

f*cking cops

You will have to cop it on the chin.

And why 'F#CKING COPS'???

If someone was doing 110kph in a 80 zone an ran into your mum and dad killing them you would be on here all upset.

Your lucky you didn't crash and end up worse.

Learn your lesson from this one as 2 more time and BYE BYE to your car forever.

I agree with the rest of the crowd. To come on here and bag the police for doing thier job when you were the one breaking the law makes you look pretty silly.

None of us are perfect but as others have said mate, cop it on the chin, pay the fine and walk for 6 months or so and be glad you didn't kill or injure anyone.

Haven't had my car impounded but did cop a massive fine for way over the limit and the missing P plate bit too boot (120 in a 60 zone on P's & plates not displayed) The Boys in Blue have a job and looks like the've done it and you deserved it. Look at this one as a lesson and learn from it. No sympathy here. There is a time and a place. Court room tip.. get a good lawyer & cross ya fingers.
