Something like this was bound to come up sooner or later. It's all just inexperience and lack of education...I'm glad I drove 5 totally different cars all under 100kws before I got into my F6. I did some STUUUUPID things, but I NEVER went over an unsafe speed (120- 150 max, depending on the surroundings and the car).As I said in another topic somewhere, driver education is the only way to stop so many people from dying on the road. As this story clearly states, you can drive one of the most safe cars in the world and still end up dead if you do not know what you're doing and excessively speed.SPEED KILLS Edited 01/03/08 12:41 AM by R-SPEC

Posted 01/03/08 01:44 AM Share Posted 01/03/08 01:44 AM This is the big problem with modern day cars, and especially high performance cars. They are very safe, have excellent handling, brakes, and especially with the T's silky smooth acceleration. They do not feel overly fast until your pushing big numbers. The problem is that even 40KM/h can feel extremely fast when the car loses it and is no longer in your control. (Trust me on that one, I was at an advanced driver training day when the T came off the track, it was only at very low speeds which all of a sudden felt very fast whilst sliding sideways out of control)Most modern day cars will easily reach 180KM/h, and the modern day performance cars will reach speeds of well over 200Km/h. The even worse problem is that it's not until you've hit these sorts of speeds that it truly feels fast.Anyone who is not used to performance cars can easily be tricked into thinking they are going slower than they really are. These been a few times in the T where I've been thinking I might be only doing 130Km/h to 140Km/h, where I've actually been in a different gear to the one I thought I was in and I was doing 200Km/h.Given that it's very easy to build the speeds up, it also means that when things do go wrong it's happening at much higher speeds. Even the best drivers in the world can't do anything when their cars turn them into a passenger at the higher speeds, just look at any car race. I'd say most of those guys would be amongst the best drivers in the world and they still slide off the road from time to time. What chance does the average joe have?[/rant]

Stupidity kills. They both tie into eachother.I was t-boned 6 years ago in a Bluebird. I was travelling at about 10kmh pulling out of a carpark, and some f*ck head in a VS V8 ute hit me at 70kph in a 50kph zone. He hit the drivers side passenger door. I spun about 200°, the chassis rail under the doors snapped in two and the door was pushed in over 40cm. If he had have hit my door OR if he was going any faster I would have been in some serious trouble.Speeding is stupid and speed kills.

Well if we're getting testicle. Speed doesn't kill, it's the stop at the end that does. I've never heard of anyone dying at 200kph aside from maybe a heart attack.
