Cosmetically, the only things different to the normal F6 is the greyed out rear spoiler pillars and the RSpec badge on the back isn't it?

I feel your pain. I too bought a new rspec thinking that I wouldn't have to touch it . . . . . It is at the crash repairers now trying to get a missaligned headlight fixed. It is very hard to say to them to take it back when it is a limited edition model which they have stopped making.

Wouldn't happen to be the drivers side light sitting about 1cm too high would it Phatal?

that's what my beasty has. I'm going to London next week and told the dealer it's coming back to roost there for 10 days and it better be fixed. :buttrock:

ANGEL#3, not true if you get the buffer out with an appropriate cutting compound. Provided the swirls aren't too deep they can usually almost be eliminated with the right techniques...

but the fact of the matter is its a brand new car it should be completely swirl free

I do understand that they can be buffed out, I was just going by what had happened to me. The swirl marks on me old XR8 ute were bad plus deep. All from a Enjo car clove that said it wouldn't leave any marks. BullS**T

Hope the F6 comes back better than before.

Just get your money back.

My thought!

If it has swirls through it, it will not be fixed unless it gets a cut and polish which will thin your paint and your paint finish wont last as long due to the clear top coat not being able to protect as well.

If they re-clear coat it it should be alright but they wont as it is a costy exercise to do properly do.

They will have it look a million dollars for you but it will be a hidden fix up.

I have bought a few used cars in my time only to find when I first wash them the cover up polish is removed and you can find numerous faults.

Find out the life expectancy of the paint and ask it they will give you a written warranty that covers the paint to last as long as per expected.

Get some Respray quotes and get them to drop the sale price accordingly

then have it resprayed straight away.

Iam referring for a full panel disassembly and re-clear coat.

However they may decide to refund you as they will be able to flog it to some other unknowing individual at full price.

That is my thoughts on the situation but best thing would be to talk to a expert spray painter and get his view.

What ever they do about it I feel it would be a cover up.

Do as someone suggested in wash a panel and check it for swirls.

Also look for light patches incase they cut the clear back too far and remove any base colour.

being R-Spec chances are you may not get another black one so try to have them discount sale price so you can have it re-clear coated.

Get quotes from reputable spray painters first.

The worst thing is they may pay another cheap panel shop to buff/cut swirls out (We'll sort it I have a great little 15yo apprentise that can do it)

And what you will end up with is a car that has been buffed down to metal and will require a full respray.

get the discount, dont let them ruin it anymore, then have it re-cleared by a reputable spray painter.

If they dont budge on the price enough, tell them you will seek legal advice before accepting a refund. may get them to give you a better discount doing so.

They wont want court costs adding to their loss.

Good luck, dont let them dictate the result.

at worst there will be more special models available but you will just have to be patient.

a little off your subject but still talking swirls.

I nearly cried once.

My wife , girl friend at time decided to wash one of my first cars (A 73 TC cortina 6 near imaculate) as a surprise while I was sleeping in on a Saturday after a hard weeks work.

Anyway she wakes me up and tells me to come outside.

I look down from the balcony above car and can see swirls on bonnet.

Go down to have a closer look and NO, look in bucket to find a dish cloth, one with the scourer on one side.

She had someway accidently used the wrong side.

I was not happy and have never let her every again wash my cars since approx 1988.

And yes she is blonde.

Yeh right re clear coat a new car because of swirls, that's crazy. On the other hand you could see swirl marks on a white car & you could see them from your balcony.if you see them from balcony on a white car there not swirls mate they are scratches.Mate a good detailer can remove swirls no problems at all.I would rather do that than get my NEW CAR re cleared.

hi Guys. Went to pick up my new r spec (black) today and I was very dissapointed to see swirl marks all round.!!!! wtf...??? I told the dealer that I'm not picking it up unless all the marks are removed or I'm want my money back. I really snapped...!! they said it will get proffessionally detailed. I'm not convinced. what should I do????

how can this bloody happen??? where fords quality control gone???? :repost:

Sorry to hear that mate but that's FORD,Dont stress just demand it gets a paint detail,They can be removed no problems at all.Its other thing to keep them off on a black car.I will give you a tip I use a block of hand soap & grade it in a buket of warm water dont use spounges at all they collect alot of sh*t,Use micro fibre cloth & wash it out every time.Wash, wax, dry, allways straight lines follow wind direction as it would go over the car.Yes I do owne a BLACK F6 & it looks mint.

Agree a good detailer can remove it, but at what cost to the thickness of the paint.

So you would prefer to have half your top coat removed to get rid of the swirls than to have it recleared back to a longer lasting and more protecting finish.

Whats so bad about reclearing it anyway?

Where did I say the car my wife scratched the bonnet on was white.

It was the factory bronze.

And if you think looking at it from a balcony would not look like swirls then try it yourself before you state otherwise.

Couldn't tell they where scratches as it was done by a dish cloth scourer you know the ones with the green scourer on one side and spounge the other.

if she had used a metal scourer then from the balcony you would have made out that it was scratched.

What happens to paint with no clear coat?

Does it not fade quickly and deteriorate.

So with a good bufffing would you not agree you are removing the protective clear coat?

The thinner the clear coat the less protection on the base coat and not to mention the paint depth will never look as deep and glossy again unless it is recleared?

As stated, this is my opinion and anyone can take it or leave it.

Use your brain and research the facts from sh*t before making final decissions.

Swirls are scratches. Just millons of tiny straight ones in all different directions that make it look circular when you look at them.
