I do a lot of showcar polishing and it should come out very easy.

I have been to FPV and they do not leave the factory like that,it happens in the car dealers.

This one had major swirlls from the dealer nothing a day wont fix.

Nice!!

Whats it cost to get someone to do that to my car? Or something close?

Felix

Swirl marks can be buffed out by a professional easily.

If you wash your car with a normal sponge the marks will evenyually come back but there are ways to significantly reduce them

You really need to use a microfibre mitt to help reduce swirls from appearing.

Here is how the pros do it.

what should I do???? :stupid:

how can this bloody happen??? where fords quality control gone????

Your doing the right thing IMO and theres nothing else you can really do. Your spending 70Kish(??) on a brand new car so if its not 100% spot on, why should you waste your money!

Im sure they wil want the sale so im sure it will be detailed for you! Might have to give them a kick up the bum, but you might get something out of it lol

Yes Swirl marks can be removed by a pro but theres plenty of cheap detailers out there and car yards usually use the cheapest they can find

Dude I've also got some huge scratches across my bonnet I suspect the inlaws dragged a clothes basket across the bonnet but that's another story. Anyways a mate came over before a show and polished waxed waxed and waxed the car again and mate you could not see any of the scratches not even the deep ones that were pretty much white and all the way though the paint but after he finnished the car was like glass (I'll post pics tommorow ) but after just 2 weeks with the heat and rain etc over the last couple of days there back big and ugly.

Moral of the story polishes and waxes can hide almost anything but HIDE is the word, most come back.

Your best bet would be to take some Dawn dish liquid to the dealership and have them wash the bonnet with salesperson/manager present then chamios it off. This will remove all waxes etc and show the swirls if any, if there are still swirls in the clear coat then the detailer has just hidden them with wax, if so don't take it, if they wont let you wash a panel dont take it, plenty of other dealers, once you drive off they'll wipe their hands of the issue.

Just get your money back.

My thought!

If it has swirls through it, it will not be fixed unless it gets a cut and polish which will thin your paint and your paint finish wont last as long due to the clear top coat not being able to protect as well.

If they re-clear coat it it should be alright but they wont as it is a costy exercise to do properly do.

They will have it look a million dollars for you but it will be a hidden fix up.

I have bought a few used cars in my time only to find when I first wash them the cover up polish is removed and you can find numerous faults.

Find out the life expectancy of the paint and ask it they will give you a written warranty that covers the paint to last as long as per expected.

Get some Respray quotes and get them to drop the sale price accordingly

then have it resprayed straight away.

Iam referring for a full panel disassembly and re-clear coat.

However they may decide to refund you as they will be able to flog it to some other unknowing individual at full price.

That is my thoughts on the situation but best thing would be to talk to a expert spray painter and get his view.

What ever they do about it I feel it would be a cover up.

Do as someone suggested in wash a panel and check it for swirls.

Also look for light patches incase they cut the clear back too far and remove any base colour.

being R-Spec chances are you may not get another black one so try to have them discount sale price so you can have it re-clear coated.

Get quotes from reputable spray painters first.

The worst thing is they may pay another cheap panel shop to buff/cut swirls out (We'll sort it I have a great little 15yo apprentise that can do it)

And what you will end up with is a car that has been buffed down to metal and will require a full respray.

get the discount, dont let them ruin it anymore, then have it re-cleared by a reputable spray painter.

If they dont budge on the price enough, tell them you will seek legal advice before accepting a refund. may get them to give you a better discount doing so.

They wont want court costs adding to their loss.

Good luck, dont let them dictate the result.

at worst there will be more special models available but you will just have to be patient.

a little off your subject but still talking swirls.

I nearly cried once.

My wife , girl friend at time decided to wash one of my first cars (A 73 TC cortina 6 near imaculate) as a surprise while I was sleeping in on a Saturday after a hard weeks work.

Anyway she wakes me up and tells me to come outside.

I look down from the balcony above car and can see swirls on bonnet.

Go down to have a closer look and NO, look in bucket to find a dish cloth, one with the scourer on one side.

She had someway accidently used the wrong side.

I was not happy and have never let her every again wash my cars since approx 1988.

And yes she is blonde.

I was at Ethridge Ford in Ringwood on Tuesday getting a faded oil pressure gauge replaced, and there was a little wa*ker in the front yard in his blue overalls hosing the cars down and chamoising them dry.

Could they be any more f*cking stupid? Rubbing a wet chamois over dirty clear coat is like running sandpaper over your duco.

hah.. yer I found knox and ringwood to have a bunch of clowns running the places.

its a shame to hear that theres so many dramas with these new R Spec F6's.

and yes I do think Fords quality is sliding down hill.

You won't be able to pick up every single fault at first, but in time you will and just make sure you firmly present your list of issues at the "Peice of Mind" service.

Even though my car isn't as expensive, it still came with exterior and interior dramas, and some have just been ignored when I present them... and got a reply that "Hey, this is Ford quality and its just what you get with mass production cars" =[

Yes u are correct if u use a polish that has fillers in it all it will do is fill the scratches in for a few washes.

If u use the correct polish for swrills it will remove the swrills u can them seal the paint and the old marks wont return.

I feel your pain. I too bought a new rspec thinking that I wouldn't have to touch it . . . . . It is at the crash repairers now trying to get a missaligned headlight fixed. It is very hard to say to them to take it back when it is a limited edition model which they have stopped making.
