Any industry have Good, Bad and crooked people working in them, some industries just attract more of the wrong type of people.

We need to remeber that we are educated car enthusiests and only a small minority of cars sold are to people like us.

Most car buyers are mindless drones that like the colour or look and do not care for anything else. This is why Dodge and Chrysler are still able to sell cars, as their buyers are stupid and only buy based on the quirky looks as the cars are yankie rubbish (Viper excluded).

I can honestly say I have never been sold a car. I have done significant research and know as much or more than the guy selling it. All I want to know is how much and when.

Agreed. Although, in my experience guys like Pat are in the minority.

For example, when I got my T I visited 4 dealerships and spoke to around 7 reps. Not one of them knew what the cars came with standard, the current factory specials or even the options (a couple even quoted the wrong power figures and proposterpous performance times, unprompted and obviously trying to talk the product up). I gave up years ago expecting reps to know in depth specs, but you'd think the basics would be a given. In the end I had to rely on my own research and took the best deal.

thanks for the props!

I get frustrated with it myself, when you go to a training day and 90% of the people there are just technologically backwards! I think to myself, how can you sell a car without knowing anything about it? Somehow they are just good bullsh*t artists and sell cars anyway they can

As an ex- Ford Spare Parts Interperter (for 9 years) and working at several Dealerships, I can say for sure, that each dealer has their fair share of 'clowns'.

Parts, Sales, Service and Workshop..... there is always one or two with NFI.

How about all the stories about cars with pipes left un-done, screwdrivers in the engine bay or footwell? I could go on...

Gee this sounds real familiar, but its a bit harsh to say there all bad, just most of them.

And if your buying new cars like these ones we own, you should know more about the car then the bloke selling it. His only there to extract the most amount of $$$ out of you, while your there to get it a the least amount of $$$.
