buster Member 7 Member For: 17y 3m 15d Posted 21/02/08 12:52 PM Share Posted 21/02/08 12:52 PM I need an opinion on whether to change my diff to a nine inch or not. My 98 el xr6 turbo has 500hp @ wheels and diff ratio 3.45. I have been advised to put a nine inch in before I blow it. Im also not happy with the way it takes off at low rpm bit sluggish. I dont know whether to change ratio to 3.7 or 3.9. I have a 5sp tremec gearbox in it. I dont want to lose too much top end but also want it to be a lot more snappy and run some descent times at the drags 11 s would be nice . cheers!!! With that kind of power in that car, you should be smoking the tyres at every speed within the speed limit! Going to a shorter ratio will simply envoke more wheelspin!9" weighs quite a bit, if your current setup hasn't exploded already, then you don't need to change!
