Guest DEVO Guests Posted 10/07/03 06:23 AM Share Posted 10/07/03 06:23 AM Well the S#@T has hit the fan with my proposed mods. As I have had to have my steering rack replaced I am really nervous about the warranty issue if I change my suspension/wheel combo. Has anyone been given any concrete info about how the change to the suspension may affect your warranty if an obviously faulty part fails again? Or what FORD is like with warranty on related parts?I am not happy, as I had almost settled on a style for the new wheels!

Posted 10/07/03 07:31 AM Share Posted 10/07/03 07:31 AM DEVO,If your really worried about warranty, ask the people who are doing the mod if they are covered if anything goes wrong that is caused by their mod (in writing preferably), most reputable shops will have this.It seems Herrods are cashing in on this uncertainty as their mods seem consistently dearer than others. Not bagging Herrods, just an observation.

The same dealer also has an XR6T herrod engine mod going for $6500, but with this the warrenty is very much VOID.With my 1998 Pulsar SSS I lowered it a few days after I picked it up. I did have warranty issues (Stuck throttle body that almost made me slam into the back of another car and a 2 week wait for the part from Japan, Aircon ceased after 3 months), but the suspension was never blamed and warranty was never void, even though the lowered suspension and lower profile wheels made the car way bouncier etc.

Guest Mr Walker Guests Posted 11/07/03 02:35 AM Share Posted 11/07/03 02:35 AM Ask Herrod's for something in writing and you won't get anything. It's not Rob's fault - it's just the way it is. If you get a Herrod's mod (any mod) Ford can still void the warranty. This is not a 'black & white' area, it will always be 'grey' and will depend on your relationship with your dealer. But don't think that because an exhaust or suspension mod is done through Herrod's that it all is OK - that's simply not the case. My problem is because the suspension is very much related to the steering. On the downside again, had the car in the driveway this afternoon :D Jumped in for a little "gettin' to know you again" time Damn thing still makes the noise it went in for! The dealer had it from Tuesday to Friday and there still seems to be a problem. Also, upon read ed-au-ba's thread, I decided to have a closer look at my door seams and what do you know- F$%@ing cancer I know I'm just whingeing now, but I am finding it a bit hard to take.
