I know I should be using some sort of Premium but to save a few bucks here and there I have been mixing it up with a bit of unleaded, premium and e10 unleaded. The owners manual just says you will not get maximum performance using regular unleaded but I would not expect a factory tune to ping. The only mods are F6 snorkle, K&N panel filter and cat back exhaust. Does the ecu detect a lesser octane fuel and adjust the timing? The car has travelled nearly 40,000kms and hasnt yet had its fuel filter replaced where I have read they seem to absorb some fuel tank plastic offs from the moulds from factory. Maybe my filter is getting clogged? Edited 18/02/08 11:25 AM by Pube

You might be able to get away with E10 as some brands have a slightly higher RON than reg unleaded.IN short. Dont bother with regular use 95 or above

Just for interest sake, recently I drove from Sydney to Albury with a full tank of premium unleaded and returned 11.2L/100km @ 110 km/h cruise control the whole way. On the return trip I used e10 and returned 10.8L/100km @ 110km/h. Not a huge difference but I always thought I got more from premium but maybe it was just a mental thing? Sometimes its going to be necessary to put some 91 ron fuel in when their are shortages in supply.PS I live in a built up area to.

I wonder weather changing the cat back exhaust would reduce back presure and cause higher boost, this may be y it is much more noticable with normal unleaded?cheers

So would would assume that Ford designed it to run on a MINIMUM of 95 RON.....
