A bloke at work got his done out of waranty after ringing 1300ford and complained that his 4year old car didnt have a heater and his wife and newborn couldnt use it in winter because of this and they fixed it free of charge. If not pm Allan and have a chat about getting the dash out/ He reckons its not as bad as it seems and i recall him telling me he can have it out in about and hour.My understanding is the mixer shaft strips.
