I'm not using the standard amp if that's what you mean. I've got a monoblock for the 12". I have no idea what the standard one is like? I actually forgot there was a standard one!

Cool!

So Im assuming your running the high current/input from the Ford amp into your mono block then into your JL sub?

Or is there RCA outputs from the factory headunit?

This is interesting that you have upgraded the factory sub - keen to know which method you have used...

:)

The ones in the BA Phoons would go off with a bang like a hand grenade above 22 volume, had mine replaced 3 times, never fixed it, :original: also used to get a lot of feedback through the speakers even when the damn stereo wasn't turned on, that's gone in the R Spec thank god

How does the IPOD plug work on the Rspec?

Obviously you just plug-in your IPOD, but how do you control it? Is it via the in dash system / steering wheel controls or via the IPOD unit itself? I'm hoping you can control it via the in dash / steering wheel.

Does anyone have an IPOD connected to the Rspec?

Cheers.

Probably nothing more than the AUX audio gizmo that provides a 3.5mm plug under the tissue tray. Volume is controlled two fold, once by whatever device you plug in and also by the ICC as normal.

There is an ipod adaptor you can get that runs through the radio and has a remote you can mount to the steering wheel if you want handier controls.

I posted a link to it somewhere but it was months ago and I'm buggered if I can find it..... :hiall:

But then it would be something else non standard that can easily and cheaply be improved upon.... :runaway:

Basically they clipped the wires running into the factory sub and ran them into an RCA splitter. Then you just plug the RCAs into the monoblock, then run speaker wire from the amp to the sub. Job done!

This way you can still control the bass from the ICC.

Also, with the iPod up full, it absolutely cranks. The natural volume is at least twice as loud as when the radio is on, so use your iPods coz they crank!

R-spec, I would have thought u would have needed to run some power into your mono block, as well as not turning the factory 'wire' into the rca connection, but rather a 'high level input' if there is one on the amp....

Running you ipod flat out into the headunit out of a std head phone jack might not be the best (generally speaking) as it may end up killing the pre amp in the head unit.... mind you without seeing this in action first, this is all just assumptions and what would otherwise typically happen in a normal audio situation... They may have put in a reducer for the input to the headunit via the pre amp... once again depends how it is setup...

Just what I would have thought!
