I ALSO sat in a new FG XT today and noted:

build quality in general looks very good except for one fault. The plastic trim near the Power Source on both sides was sharpish. Sharp enough to maybe cut.

Steering wheel looked better than in the pictures.

Seats looked good

Seatbelt no longer rubs on the surrounding plastic at the mount point like in BA/BFs.

Dash looks well fitted with no poorly flushed bits around the demist vents like in my BA.

The usefulness of the visors is still questionable, I.e put them down and your view is virtually gone (Im 6'2")

I liked the leather boot at the base of the handbrake

I still managed to bump my head a little when turning to my right to look at stuff.

Overall Im impressed and wana hop in an XR asap!

Ok, just went and sat in some XR6s for a bit.

Good

Ford have fixed the fuel cap area, now when u open the flap u cant see the ground below.

Ford have fixed the silly glued-on internal boot release, now its properly affixed

Where the doors meet the roofline has been fixed, theyve done away with that flexi plastic.

Unlike other posts I didnt find any feeling or sound of dodgyness when closing the doors.

rear seat entry hugely improved, door opens way wider, much more room to escape/enter.

**********

Not so good

Internal door release/handles are definitely unimpressive, seem a bit flimsy, and the button above it moves a bit when u use the handle. Unquestionably a backward step over the BA-F. not a dealbreaker for me though.

the button above the handle is actually the lock for the door, you push it in to lock the doors manually. When you grab the handle it unlocks the door to

exactly, transient overboost gives you an extra 10% boost pressure when over taking. It's great from around 60kph, you just bury your foot into the carpet and the car launches forward - makes your passengers go :bangcomputer:

wonder if they have managed to build a heater that doesnt break and cd players that dont jam up

Well stop playing country music CDs and you'll be right. Never ever had a problem with metal CDs. :bangcomputer:
