Considering the price I reckon I'd go them again when these ones are done. I noticed my pads are getting low (only 22,000km on them, whoops), did some reading seems that Project Mu HC800 is the common choice for a street/track blend, not too expensive either. I can recommend you some pads in my experience if using 4 pots. Also how did you go with the rear tow hook? I may need one too.Not sure if you run tyres specifically for track but if you do, the NT01s have been pretty good for me. Considering the price I reckon I'd go them again when these ones are done. furiousgibbon Member 86 Member For: 17y 6m 18d Posted 30/01/15 04:27 AM Share Posted 30/01/15 04:27 AM I've got the 6/4 Brembos. Let me know what you've used anyway so I can check out availability and other feedback.I haven't looked into the tow hook issue, I'm gonna get under the car on the weekend and see if there's anywhere I could bolt a hook or something. I might just have to pull out of the event. I've done a few events and track days and this is the first time they've specified tow hooks as a requirement. Rear passenger chassis rail has a long stud on it, about 30cm from the rear of car. My car has a tow bar that is mounted using this stud with a nut on it. Secure something like this to it.http://www.racerindustries.com.au/afawcs0161690/CATID=225/ID=10700/SID=22324332/Tow-Strap-400mm.html

High Coeff of friction. Expect to pay over $6-700 fronts only and they don't last long.Transfer a lot of heat to the front discs too but stopping performance is exceptional.Next best are these new Circo M171's I am trying out. Not quite the bite, but more durable, over 900deg rating too. Also look at Hawk DC70, Endless PC35 if wanting a decent road track pad.Always compromises though. poor cold bite and noise.Look into a proper floating rotor set up too. Shockworks now have one that fits Brembo's. (proper directional rotor vanes too)Fluid. Need a decent synthetic. Castrol SRF has a high wet bp but if you change/bleed it often (not as important), highest dry bp I could, find and what I currently use is Project Mu 335.All expensive kit, but necessary to get the best of your current calipers.A lot of Alcon 6 pots in the country now after SEMA if price is no option.
furiousgibbon Member 86 Member For: 17y 6m 18d Posted 31/01/15 03:06 AM Share Posted 31/01/15 03:06 AM Seaton that is a good tip on the tow strap, I did see that bolt sticking through the other night but didn't think of doing anything with it. Not sure I'd really want the car dragged out from that point but I'd have to do something pretty stupid to get so far off track that the front tow point couldn't be used. Thanks for the brake tips Paul, I've done about 4 hours reading this morning, your recommendations would be great on track but I don't think they'd be suitable for the 25,000km+ a year I do up and down the freeway in traffic. Not sure I wanna mess about swapping pads for events either cause that's only gonna end up with vibration and other problems. I'll have to find an optimum street/track combo pad. Considering I'm running the standard Brembo pads I could surely improve without sacrificing streetability/noise levels. The only competitive events I'm going to do are those rallysprints and that's less than 3 mins per run, 4 runs per event, lots of braking but other than a soft and sometimes inconsistent pedal feel, the car pulls up ok as is. For track days I'm really not that concerned as I'm just going out having some fun. I really just need a pad that performs immediately from cold, stays consistent, and doesn't squeal like crazy on the street. HC800 still looks like a good option but I'll keep reading. I'm running Motul RBF660 fluid (was the first thing I changed) and so far it has been perfect. Love the look of the Shockworks floating rotors, will be going down that path once I wear through these ones!

That section will be strong. You really can't go any closer to the rear in my opinion or once you start getting towed, and the tow strap pulls tight, the angle it's on is going wreck the rear bar. I can't see any other option without putting a hole in the rear bar and fitting one like the front has. And obviously your not doing that.
Bulletime Donating Members 937 Member For: 14y 2m Gender: Male Posted 31/01/15 08:19 AM Share Posted 31/01/15 08:19 AM (edited) I went with some intima sr pads for $200 as a track only pad, I swap tyres so swapping pads is no biggie. They suited my budget at the time I bought them, decent reviews from skyline forums, haven't had a chance to run them yet, hoping for March. Otherwise race brakes sydney have the following prices to me in August PMU H21 about $650 a set or H16-03 which a step down and more popular but basically they are the same at $580. Much lower coeff of friction. They will last a lot longer though, and are a bit more stable at very temps. Those prices are great though.http://www.pmuracing.com/?page_id=
