Yes. If you want to accelerate fast from the lights just leave it in PERF mode and let it do its thing.

Just watch it if you lift off the throttle fast in 2nd gear at about 5000rpm+.

The car thinks you want engine braking so will hold the gear until you apply throttle again which means you are well over 100kph.

Just back off slowly and it will shift into 3rd by itself.

I found the first few times driving in manual mode I lef it too late to shift and hit the rev limiter which loses all your momentum and nearly fires you through the windscreen but some peoples cars a different that way.

When on the open road I generally use it manually as when I overtake, I dont like it kicking back to 2nd over 100kph, especially in the wet.

Just manually shift into 3rd and use the torque as it still goes like all hell anyways.

Cheers

lol I notice the 1st to 2nd thing as well, but its not that bad with mine.... its just that compared to ther rest of the gear changes 1st to 2nd seems a lot rougher or clunkier, not a nice smooth transition....

I was thinking of taking it to ford and getting it checked out under warranty but after reading your post maybe that's just how ALL these transmissions are, and I dont like taking my car to ford unless its ABSOLUTELY necessary. Last time I took it there they did the brake hose recall/swap but it somehow came back with a squeaky accelerator pedal ! wtf??

maybe I should take one of their ZF equipped XRs for a test drive just to see if it behaves the same as well.. lol

Love those cars.

Just get a custom tune and phoon intake and you will fry most cars on the road. Mine has 307rwkw but to be honest, I never use it. If you load the foot into it, your BIG SMILE very quickly turns to worry as your not sure if you have just torn the gearbox in half or reef the diff right out of the rear.

I reckon 250-260rwkw is more than enough bacon. custom tune, injectors and valve springs and your there. maybe a aftermarket cooler.

Apparently the autos arnt much good after about 270rwkw.
