I can get it made to my specs. So what I was thinking was to have the fuel supply line/rail return line offset to the side to allow a swirling effect while filling, instead of just filling it from the top like the original design has. I may have to have both the supply fittings a bit lower then what ive shown here otherwise some of the fuel will just end up going straight back out the over flow... I thought this maybe a better idea in reducing aerating of the surge tank. What are your opinions of this? hanra Into the laaaake Member 1,532 Member For: 17y 9m 27d Gender: Male Location: Nrth Qld
that's the idea, but has two outlets for two H/P pumps. Does it also have a fitting on the top? Is that meant to be the overflow back into the tank? As the two fittings on the side would be supply from the tank, and return from the rail. XRMATE Member 16 Member For: 17y 2m 12d Gender: Male Location: QLD
yes overflow is on the top, I have a walbro 600hp in tank pump and will run the 044 from the swirl pot. I may run the return back to the main tank and run a clear hose from the top outlet to one of the bottom outlets Then I can run the fuel level very low and use the clear line to make sure I have 2.5 ltrs of fuel in the tank to get down the 1/4. I would have thought the top fitting would of been to fill the tank, otherwise for it to overflow it needs to push the fuel up hill via an almost vertical fuel line.So the top line is definatly the overflow then? blueboost Member 1,204 Member For: 20y 10m 15d Gender: Male Location: Mackay NorthQueensland
yes that is right, the top one is return to the tank, so it can push any air bubles out of the swirl pot, this returns the excess fuel and air back, which also keeps the fuel in the swirl pot fairly cool. (because you are flushing the fuel back by the spare amount your rear pump has, which is mainly at idle, and low power levels) if you return straight back to the tank, from the regulator, you put a lot more demand on your fuel pump, leanout is a lot more dangerous then warm fuel. and any air from the back tank has to go through your system to get out. turbotrana Member 2,586 Member For: 22y 11d Gender: Male
I wouldnt mount any swirlpot in the boot. Rubber lines, even viton lined fuel injection hose permeates fuel odours thru the fuel line and the smell will be a constant bother. If you must use metal bundy tube as much as possible and rubber just for joining and it should be OK.
