I droped into Autobahn last night on the way home to ask about a K&N etc. The BMC rep happened to be there at the time. I spoke to him for about 20min. He rekons the K&N panel filter will give us around 3rwkw. The BMC pannel filter around 5rwKw and the BMC pod around 9rwkw. The main difference is the price. The panel jobs are around $100-$130 where as the pod is $550... (Not installed) I tried to get him to come along to the Melbourne Dyno day but is busy. I will be calling him today to see if I can get at least 1 pod and 1 pannel filter so we can test them tomorrow at the Melb dyno day. Then we can realy know how they go.. He did mention the Geelong boys tests. Now he is swamped by orders for the pod one. Apparently you replace the Ford air box and set up the plumbing so that it still uses the std XR6T snorkel so that you are not sucking engine bay heat etc. Only time will tell. My main aim is in search of fuel efficency rather than extra KW but hey if I get both.. Well who would not be happy with that. But $550 clams is a bit to spend...I will call him today and see what I can organise..Anyone know how long it takes the engine management system to figure out that the air coming in is better faster than before and then enables the engine to work better??? It can be made to fit by getting another piece of elephant tube from the I6 and an adapter and fitting it to the XR8 airbox diuct and joining it to the standard duct on the T or I6. It fits nice and from all accounts adds about 5rwkw!hope that helps! harasn, next time you are talking to FCSD, tell them to update the listing. in the latest TradeCat, it only lists 1 filter for 6cyl and 8cyl engines...... the one I have was printed May 03.Nothing is listed at all for XR's. Looks factory to those that have seen it!
