I took a mate out for a ride in the XR6 Turbo last night. This guy has never driven one so I let him take the reigns. He has owned Mitsubishi GTO twin Turbo, Audi S4, Lancer Evo, Subaru STi, Porshe Cayenne turbo and his dad had a Lambo Diablo so hes no stranger to performance cars.

I let him take the reigns of the T, 307rwkw of it. At First we just just cruised around, nothing special here, then he found a bit of a straight and opened up on the throttle, as the boost comes on, the rear tyres loose traction, bangs it into second. Geezus

He just looked at me and said this is ridiculous. He reckons none of his previous cars ever punched like the XR6T on boost. Very very impressed.

What was more impressive was how off boost it drove around and sounded like a stocker. He was also stunned to hear about how cheap they are to modify to this level of performance.

When I drove home, coming onto the express way, the car absolutely felt super quick, the air was nice and chilly and ive only owned it during hot season so I cant wait for the nice cold night for a blast down Wsid.

Would have all in me garage, especially the Diablo.

Diablo is nice, black. Only time I been in it was when his dad asked us to bring a DVD back, handed my mate the keys. I had just come from the gym so I looked like a hobbo. Farout, the looks you get is unbeleivable. Nothing compares. Other than that, sounded like a truck.

Any feel good moments when demonstrating our beloved XR's (or any disappointing moments)

its odd how 300+ rwkw is the norm around here, but it is really a shed load of power! I mean its prolly around 380kw (520 hp) at the engine (rough guess) which is a fair whack more than most cars!

Haha yeah everyone just throws it around like its nothing, when in reality, going back 10 or so years ago that kind of power for that money was unheard of.. and it you got that sort of power it definitely wasnt as streetable as our cars are.

Absolutely agreed! An XR6T with over 300 at the treads is an impressive car to drive! Albeit she might not go around the corners like his Cayenne, STi or EVO, but given a firm punch in the guts they really take off like a cat with battery acid on its balls.

Only problem for me now is what to do when 315rwkw starts to feel sluggish?

Same problem.... Saving the pennys for a bottom end and zorst revamp. Should be good to push the 400 bracket, which is where ill stop... I hope!!

ITS the bug I tell ya , 245 rwkw, ITS the bug, 266rwkw , ITS the bug, 315.8 rwkw, god dam the bug,motor now out,its now back waitin to go in, 950kw rated atomic performance engine, with 20 thou over fatrods girdle race series oil pump steel billet gearset and modified pressure bypass circuitry etc,etc,etc, god dam my missus hates the bug,yeah me to,I cant wait to spray it. ONCE BITTEN SEEMS THE ITCH WONT GO AWAY. ,GOD DAM I LOVE FORD,
