that's a cool filter set up and just like what I have done with my t ute. It works great. It doesnt even matter if your filter is sucking hot air as your turbo runs optimal when red hot. Its up to the I/c to cool the air after that before it goes to the intake. that's why you should have a good cooler. And by placing the filter there you've cut the travel path by 2/3.

Why make the intercoolers job harder than it needs to be? Cold dense air always burns better than hot thin air which equals more power. Heating the air up before putting it through the intercooler is doing nothing for you.

Something like this would make better power and looks like it might go heaps cheaper than new too. ( No its not mine)

Hey thanx craig that looks good mate. I have the p/w cold air ind fog light setup but ditched it as it kept gettin wet. And honestly this setup works just as good if not better. On the standard t you have cold air ind but to get to the turbo it has to cross the engine and get hot anyway - defeats the purpose. Know anyone who wants to purchase p/w cold air ind ? What power you runin ?

Hey Mic.

Just wondering if there was a reason your under the headlight CAI was getting wet? Is it happening all the time when it rains or just when the ute is washed? I take it all of the undergaurd/ bumper plastic is all in place? Where do you live too mate? The tropics somewhere ( lots of rain hence it is getting wet) or is the wet filter a result of running through the car wash and water coming at it from an unatural angle?

Powerwise I am not actually sure what I'm running at the moment. My ute is an '07 BF MkII ripcurl. Had Seimens injectors, full zorst and edit done last week and the clutch started slipping like a bastage so we had to back her off. My tuner reckons it would have been making high 200s until he neutered it. We won't be bothering with the dyno until I get my clutch sorted ( which is happening in a week or 4 when I get around to it). Am also fitting either a stage 2 PW kit or the Plenum kit at the same time as I am looking to get a lazy, safe 330-340kw. Starting to lean toward the plenu, kit to avoid the cross engine heat that you mentioned and the fact that the PW plenum is sex on wheels!

Interested in your thought on why that water is getting in there mate!

Hey craig, im in gold coast. When I 1st finished the install on my p/w kit everything was on. The cowling on very bottom, fog lights in and all. Went 4 a drive the next day and got smashed by crazy ass rain in tweed, I couldnt see a thing and had to stop on the highway !!! So that was extreme. I even made another setup that curled back around behind that metal plate and up and sat in that cavity in front of the front wheel. I think it was a puddle that killed that plan. So a bit of bad luck there really. The kit is faultless apart from - I think there should be a gasket with the plenum, that's all, but I also really like the idea of the air filter being easy to get to. that's my personal preferance though and no design faults at all by p/w - cheers

I have just finished modifying my intake pipework to eliminate the crossover assembly, relocate the BOV and shorten overall intake length. Intake temps are expected to have dropped dramatically and turbo seems to spool much faster than before. Also torque into 3rd gear has increased HEAPS..Pulls very hard. Im impressed with the increase..Also sounds awesome coming on song.

Where did you source the materials for the cold side intercooler piping to the throttle body? and it cost only $200 for that pipe and the CAI?

Not worth the effort stuffing around to try and get it too fit, for $50 mabey but $150 :spoton:

well you could do the CAI and cold side intercooler to throttle body with that piping....

Nice one.

I am a firm believer that the stock crossover gets so hot it negates the fact that it has a cold air source.If you doubt me go for a run and feel it with the BACK of your hand.

Having said that an external air source would be that much better.

How about posting up what you did.
