My main fears were the health reasons, but the more I read, the more I see that it is more urban myth, than any conclusive proof of health effects due to the power lines.

The place has 980 sqm of land and the easment is only a very small fraction of the corner of the land. The place is just what we are looking for, it is weather I can live with the power lines.

Sound like a similar joint I use to own a while ago Zap

We had energy aust. come out with there meters and check the EMF directly under the power lines, the reading was very low, we then went inside the house checked the television reading was high, then we turned the microwave on reading was extremely high, alarm clock next to the bed were your head is all night was also high

End result was most of the electrical items in the house had a much higher EMF than the power lines

when it comes to resale later on zap, with house prices the way they are and interest rates I honestly think a cheap bargain is exactly what people will be after.

it shouldnt be any harder to sell than the average house with a few daggy bits!

I'd only worry about the noise, buy cheap sell cheap, this u r already aware of. Would the noise be audible in the middle of the night when your family is trying to get some shut eye, I've heard them squak loudly in the dead of night without rain

I live near them too, but that study you have referred too does raise a few issues of concern. In relation to your health the study makes reference to increased incidences of cancer, however, this predominantly refers to people who have immature, weak, or underdeveloped immune systems, incapable of protecting the body from the varying types of cancers. This increased likelihood of developed cancer will most likely develop in children and newborn infants that have immature immune systems. Also this will apply to those who have compromised immune systems, such as the long term ill, and the elderly who have diminishing strengths in there immune systems.

If you are a healthy adult then your chances are rather low, however if you wish to raise a family and have children then you will place them at an increased risk of developing a cancer.

Cancer is often mis-understood, and the term cancer only refers to 'abnormal cell growth', which may or may not interfere with the body's ability to function. Most cancers are benign or non-invasive to the body's functions vs invasive which will grow and spread and effect a part of the bodys operations, such as the lungs or more commonly in children the blood and which are more commonly referred to as leukemias.

Listen to the facts and the studies and the available research not today tonight holding a flurorescent tube under a power line.

I.B.

In relation to your property value, the Sydney metro area has a long term plan to place these high voltage lines underground, though it is a long term plan, but do you have a long term investment. Sounds like south west sydney?

Nah it was Belrose on the northern beaches.

I have decided to not buy for the moment as intrest rates are going up. We are renting a great house with a pool and heaps of room for 40% of what it would cost to buy it on a mortgage.

I do not expect housing prices to go up much until rates start to level off.
