"ahhhh the serenity"

I Vote no Zapper. The olds now have a two powerlines through the front of their property - and the noise coming off the bloody things when it's humid is shocking.

Not to mention the excitement caused when a line drops, electrifies a fence or two and instantly sets fire to every fence post within a km radius :buttonit:

You can entertain friends at night by wandering around the back yard holding onto fluro tubes.

Always thought this was BS untill a few of the boys from work went out to test it!! AMAZING!!

Yes, the magnetic flux excites the inert gas inside enough to allow the phosphor to glow. Usually only a dull glow though.

at 50 hz its not anywhere near as harmful as 800mh to 2.4 gigs.

You mean 800mhz?

Yes 50hz is the frequency of the AC passing along the lines, but its the Flux given off from this that is the issue. Where not talking about RF.

I dont think enough real world long term studies have been done on this subject.

Have a look and see if any of the frogs in the area do this: http://www.hfml.ru.nl/pics/Movies/frog.mpg

If they do, then perhaps you should........? Run the other way!!!! hahaha

hmmm, very hotly debated topic there ZAP, as you said there are many studies, including the one this morning, that deny there is a major threat to people living under the power lines.

I think the mobile towers are a bit more likely to have an effect on life.

The mesh would be a good "safer than sorry" measure IMO.

I think if it plays on your mind alot, then maybe you would regret the decision, also if the family gives you grief about it, you may be in for a headache!

Makes me wonder why people buy into magnetic therapeutic devices.Usual crap..last week power lines and magnetic fields will kill you : this week, wear a magnet, sleep on a magnet etc. ALWAYS look for peer reviewed scientific articles/research.

We looked at the house and unfortunatly it is not right for us.

Even though it was p!ssing down, there was no noise from the lines.

I appreciate all the opinions and views, I would still consider a place with power lines.
