Simon's (Xtreme) cat flow test found the stock cat flows 300cfm. I think the 54309M's 408cfm for $300 fitted is actually pretty good value and I think bf xr6t's personal experience (above) is evidence enough that it improves things.

It's probably not a great option if you want to go well above 300rwkw (better off with Ballistic, SBM(???), Metalcat, Catco or Xtreme's own) but its certainly better than stock.

I've got a 54309M going on tomorrow and a tune on Monday - I'll let you know how it goes.

Sorry mate, I have to disagree with you. The 408 CFM number is an unverified number and made up for all we know...its only found on one Australian resellers sight...there is nothing else internationally on this part at all. Magnaflow dont even list the part number on their website.

In any case, upgrading to 400 cfm when the stock exhaust is capable of 560 cfm just seems plain dumb. Why upgrade the cat, only to still have it the biggest restriction in the system. X Forces 3" cat flows 570 cfm (even Catco admit that) and is only $175 from Just Jap. I know what makes more sense.....

Oh Geez - now you tell me. You win. If I knew X-Force cats flowed 570cfm and cost $175, I would have bought one in a flash! Well my Magnaflow is being fitted now, so I'm too far committed. Get my tune on Monday so we'll see how it goes.

You're right - those flow figures are the only ones I've seen quoted anywhere for the 54309M. Its interesting that many of the 3 inch (4 inch body) metal cats look very, very similar on the inside, the catalyst material and welds. I'll just cross my fingers and hope they're all made in the same factories in China!

the stock exhaust flows 560cfm. Anything that flows more than that will yield the same result, that's if we are talking about keeping the stock exhaust.
