The Stock Cat

I'd speak to Simon as I can't see a gutted cat causing any more problems then a good high flow unit. To be 100%, you could add the wastegate/flapper mod to your list. That would ensure total boost control :buttonit:

I went and spoke to Mike and then Simon at XFT today about exhausts aswell. I'm planning a PW stage 1, his injectors and custom tune. When exhaust was bought up they both told me about the system that he sells there but unfortunately it is more than I could afford $1600ish for the dump and cat.

He told me with what I have planned, the cat will hold back the power. So the question was what are the other options. Catco and metal cats were bought up but, whilst both were an improvement on stock but not the best to get. High flowing the stock cat creates problems with boost control. So at the moment I'm looking at just getting his cat for $650 plus fitment.

Are there any other options out there that peopls have used and are happy with but less than the $1600 price tag for both the dump and cat and what sizes have they used?

I'll be fitting a catco cat this week. It apparently flow 707 cfu which is greater than the rest of the exhaust 560ish. I'm not after huge power just enough to give me a rush and this (along with my other mods coming) will easily push me over 300... much more and it will need internal treatment. Plus my valve springs are std and I don't want to spend any more on the toy!

If you are after a cheaper exhaust option check out the Xforce dump and cat group buy.

Its a 3" outlet and inlet but has a 5" body. This can then be welded in place of the std BF cat very easily by an exhaust shop with minimal cost and buggerizing around. Bos importing is where I got it from and was $385 sent to Perth. Not cheap but it should work very well on the stock dump (it's the highest flowing 3" available). I have the cat at home and shall have it fitted soonish. Give me a PM if you want to take a look at it once fitted.

Cheers.

Same thing for me. I certainly wont question what Mike says (as I worked with him before I bought a ford and at his immediate job before XFT) but why would a gutted standard cat cause boost control problems when a high flow cat might actually flow more?

03XR6T, im 110% sure I should do the flapper mod but how much issit gonna cost :(

If I have to go a high flow cat I'll just get it from Pat at Mettams Morley. They have always looked after me before....

I tried to order the edit from KPM today but I couldnt get back to them before 430 our time so mrs is gonna ring em up and order tomorrow!
