hi boys,

sorry to bring this up again I am sure it has been discussed many times, but I am new to the forum.

just wondering if people have been gutting out the stock cat??? what are the advantages and disadvantages??

the car is running a k&n filter in the original box with a second CAI. 8psi generic tune (getting custom tune very soon).

I am thinking if its a good thing to do for now until I get a full exhuast system, then I will gutt the cat out before the tune.

thanks

I'd loose the center muffler first, then maybe a hi flow cat with full exhaust later on.

Can you split the stock cat open and fit a pipe down the guts of it then weld it back up? How do they go for spitting black crap out the back? Dont wanna have black crap all over my tailgate.....

Can the hi flows cause that black soot as well?

The cat has 2 outlets so a straight pipe I dont think would work down the guts of it... Dunno about how dirty it would be though...

Ah yes that's right! der! Could run a straight pipe through the cat then fit a Y piece. that's what has to be done with the hi flows.

will the car need a tune as soon as I gut the cat???

If your car is stock it'll overboost and go into limp mode if you give it a boot... If your car has a tune, I think it may overboost and lean out and that can lead to major damage... I'd get a custom tune asap or drive like a girl till you do....
