BEN189 Member 96 Member For: 20y 3m 29d Posted 30/01/08 11:31 PM Share Posted 30/01/08 11:31 PM Hi allI have about $30k to spend and I want to get a T. I have noticed on the carsales website that they have a few 06 BF XR6T’s that were cop cars. The kays are low and the price is in my range BUT are they good value???All I can see is that they are stock from the factory with only reverse sensors and side airbags as an option. Is there anything I am missing? I guess the pro of buying something like this is that there still is factory warranty on them compared to other sub $30k T’s. Anyone bought ex cop cars on this forum? I would like to know if you have been happy or unhappy with it. Thanks, Ben

Nothing wrong with it, other than a bit of wear and tear in interior. It also had premium brakes which was a bonus I wasnt aware of when I bought it. However I only paid 27 grand for it 2 years ago. So I reckon for 30 you should be able to get a much nicer car, with premium sound and probably leather seats, which is something you wont find in an ex-cop car... For 30K I couldnt justify purchasing an ex cop car, you just dont know whats happened to them, wheteher they've been trashed or not, and as he said, interiors are shocking, worn seats, holes and scratches in the dash, and so on. Take a look on carsales and carpoint, I was browsing the other day there was a nice acid rush T, 20 inch rims, lowered, engine bay detailed and sprayed acid rush and I think it had an edit for 22K. Take your time, and eventually something will come along..

We used to get them at work and they were always f*cked. They don't own them so they are driven like they are stolen. The wheels, brakes and suspension are always rooted and the engine always cops a really hard life – especially in hwy patrol cars. The interior is also buggered as they drill holes everywhere and constant wear and tear on the seats and trim.In my opinion, run in the other direction…

BEN189 Member 96 Member For: 20y 3m 29d Posted 31/01/08 02:05 AM Author Share Posted 31/01/08 02:05 AM Thanks for the replies.Well, that is something I didn't know that Ford void the warranty on cop cars, that is interesting. The reason why I would consider one is because of the warranty and that I would much rather a BF over a BA. Most BA's are out of warranty and they dont come with the ZF auto like the BF does. bdave351 Member 81 Member For: 17y 7m 14d Gender: Male Posted 31/01/08 07:35 AM Share Posted 31/01/08 07:35 AM Gday, I spent three months at the sydney auctions going over every ex cop XR8 and XR6T from Jan to Apr last year. Most of them I wouldnt buy and have hard lives. Not thrashed revs wise more than private but having scum bags in the back with marked roofs and the occassional gutter jump or lump out under the front when they bottom out coming out a driveway to quick. There were good ones to be had though and they didnt seem to go for much more than the bad ones since the dealers bidding didnt seem to care.I guess maybe 1 in 10 were worth buying. Low Kms, good nick.Ended up getting one with only 23,000km and very little marks on it. Warranty was fine.So yeah, would certainly do it again if I had the time, but wouldnt buy just any.
