Morning all, ment to tell you all about this last week, but just never got around to it. Last wednesday night we had a test'n'tune night at the Willobank Raceway. My beast had 1800klms on her so I thought "yeah why not". Ended up running a 14.99 which isn't too bad, considering I started to fry the tyres, so backed off....too much and it bogged down. Also track temp was around 34degrees. That was on my second pass. First and third pass I got 15.2 on both. Too much tyre spin.

I left it at that, was terrified I'd blow the gearbox, so I figure I'll run it in a bit more and in a couple of months be back out there again. Should be a bit colder too so that'll be good.

I'm pretty happy with a 14.99, considering it was quite warm. Was reading in a wheels mag they ran a 14.2 but temp was only like 14 degrees and they wouldn't care if they blow the gearbox or not so yeah.

14.99 crap. That's slow. And I'd expect all XR6T to run that time in those conditions.

I guess once the hype wears off, we all have some work to do to unleash the beast.

I've only had traffic light runs. Hosed off a few VT SS commys, WRX my02 (only mags with press cars can aford 6000rpm launches) and a VN 5L with drop tank and twin Xhaust.

All runs done late at night. No 40deg day runs. Optimax fuel only.

and did you win Esky? :)

yep, won all of those.

Ill though I have lost a few.

1) friends bluebird 4wd turbo. but it does flat 13sec 1/4miles

2) two friends GTRs

3) a friends my99 STi

4) I destroyed the XR6T, when my wife was driving it, in my 12second rotary.

The xr6t is a nice car, for what it is. For ride handling and street presence, it can't be beaten. But for drag racing, it falls behind. Almost any slightly modified jap import will beat it. So it's time to crack the ECU, lift the boost and go GTR hunting...
